I didn't think mine was that bad....sure it wasn't as straight forward and simple as the Cagiva or the Duc....but I am sure it was no harder than your F650GS.....
Changing the oil on the BMW F650GS (single cylinder, not the F650GS twin cylinder (actually 800cc), now reborn as the G650GS single cylidner ??? [bang] anyway) is very easy, it's just a laborious process, mainly because of the faux gas-tank plastic cover anchored in place by 42 bolts that needs to come off. And the stupid position of the oil tank's drain plug that requires holding a container 3feet in the air. Kinda like the inverse of hovering a small child over the urinal while he takes a leak.

Changing the oil on the KTM is a bit more involved (I'm not making this s**t up, detailed howto here ) The drain plug on the KTM's oil tank is on the left side behind the gas tank, that requires taking off the left-side crash bars, fairing and tank, plus unplugging the fuel pump & reserve sensor and one vent plus two fuel lines. That's why anyone who doesn't enjoy riding a bicycle with no seat on a bumpy road plumbs a hose in place of the drain plug as in pic.

Next is the oil filter that (in theory) requires special pliers to remove but the bastard can just be stabbed with a screw driver and yanked out...  [laugh] followed by an oil screen on the inlet to the oil tank but my bicycle has a seat and the gas tank stayed on, so f**k that little bugger I'm not going to bother. Then off to the right side of the bike, there's another oil screen right above the center stand. So off the center stand, on the side stand, move the oil tray over to the other side of the bike, out comes the oil screen and tilt the bike to the right side just to get the last of the oil out.

The BMW is overall less involved, even with the holy faux tank covers of +1 libido vs Harleys and the navel-high oil tank's drain plug. But still more involved than my Civic SI that requires taking off the front right wheel and reaching in like a veterinarian up a cow's ass to get to the oil filter.

In this regard the Monster was (is?) the best.  8)

ZLTFUL

I was compelled by the power of red yesterday...
Did a loop of level B surface (minimum maintenance) roads with my buddy on his 990 Adventure (Guess who had to have his bike picked up multiple times...Hint: Wasn't me!  [cheeky])
I got a bunch of video and had an absolute blast until the KTM's fork seals decided that they were done with life. He hopped on the highway and headed home while I did the last couple of roads on the way home solo.

We did find an abandoned rail line that was still flat and smooth for about 4 miles through a great canopy of trees. Hoping to return once the trees leaf out and get some more video.
For now, a teaser shot...was very happy with how the Husky handled the incredibly sloppy conditions.

Ducati is the pretty girl that can't walk in heels without stumbling. I still love her.

I'd go for the Duke, it's at least $500 better looking in my mind.
Every bike I've ever owned.

. . . so, $500 is worth the looks alone? I just need to know if they will finance it . . . the other one, they do finance, I don't have that kinda moola around any more . . . :-[

I like the look more, plus having the KTM name is nice even though they are pretty much the same, Top Gear says the Duke is three seconds faster to 100 also, not sure what the difference is though.

In case anyone was wondering, if you start a wheelie in first gear, then clutch less shift to second and use a little too much throttle a 450sm will go vertical and almost throw the rider off the back.

Almost

;)

That looks badass.

Is that an under-jacket sort of thing, or over a t-shirt sort of thing?
