When I was a kid we used to put a few drops of R in the gas tank just for the smell of it  :)
Is there anything out there now that can come close  to that?

I've been trying some different oils.  The problem is that most of the castor based oils cannot be used in oil injection systems because it is too thick.  Maxima 927 was tried, it smells better than Suzuki CCI but not great.  I'm trying some Klotz TC-W3 next that is advertised to work in injection systems.

Don't forget to re-jet and make a block off plate for the pump so it doesn't seize from running dry.

YAM R 2stroke oil smells best. I run it in my leaf blower just for old times sake.

I will build another RD someday. when my current projects are done (yea right)

The Suzuki guys say that the injection must be left intact on the Suzuki triples.  It has 6 lines and three of them go directly to the main bearings.  It said that the mains will not get enough oil using premix only - I just don't want to chance it.  I've tried adding some castor oil to the gas in addition to the injection but even with the pump adjusted way down the exhaust is way too...  dense.  I have high hopes for the Klotz but the Maxima works great.  It smells 'sweet' but not quite that R smell.

Edit - I just realized that the Maxima 927 is the castor oil I mixed in the gas for test purposes, not in the injector system.  It is Motul 710 that smells better and works in the oil injection.  Doh [bang]

I've been toying with the idea of making a faux classic GP replica out of a Banshee Quad motor (same motor as used in the RZ-350 / RD-350LC ) for a few years now. I know the motor well enough (I used to race RZs back when dinosaurs roamed the earth) and I loves me some two strokes.

Maybe with a better suspension and real wheels... Hmmmm....

Sweeeet! Haven't seen a Hustler in years! Tell her Happy 40th Birthday for me! [thumbsup] [Dolph] I love hearing stories about old scooters (2 or 4 stroke) still alive and kicking. Gives me hope that I might be running for a couple more years! [laugh]
