Every time the rear axle nuts have been tightened after a chain adjust or new tyre I've managed to straighten out the tabs on the stupid " adjustment plate " thingy which twists around, then have to remove it and bash the tabs back into shape.

Been promising myself to get a couple of nice bevelled stainless washers made up to replace those plates ( which are useless for getting the wheel lined up right anyway ) and it won't matter if they slip around a little before the nuts are nipped up tight.

Natch, never got around to it,  but replaced a tyre last week and added a washer between the plate and the nut on each side - voila, snugged up the nuts tight and no plate twisties. The washers are just crap from the local hardware store and about 1 mm thick so the the axle ends sit flush with the nuts rather than sticking out a litlle, hardly a safety issue IMHO

But I NEED the tick marks to know my rear tire is straight!

Just kidding, good idea [thumbsup]

Lose those tap things, put Al washers there instead(Saves weight). then go buy a $19 alignment tool or a $5 tape measure for axle alignment.  [thumbsup] Problem solved.
