Rizoma knockoff mirror review

When I put clipon bars on my Monster, I bought relatively cheap reverse retro knockoff mirrors on it, that I bought on ebay.

The quality was okay - they were machined from billet, and the anodizing didn't look like it was going to last (it hasn't, they're going purple), but hey, what do you expect for $60 or so.

So my daughter is blinging out her bike, and she figured she's follow suit, and ordered some Rizome knock-off mirrors from ebay.

The quality of the ones she got was absolutely dreadful.  One of the mirrors had two large chips out of the glass, and they are cast and powder coated rather than machined and anodized.

We figured we'd still put them on while she saves some dough for better mirrors, but we couldn't get them to stop spinning as they weren't a good fit on the bar-end.  After tightening the clamp screw a little, there was the inevitable "chink" noise as the poor quality brittle casting snapped.

Here's a photo of the offending mirror:

You can see where the mirror has chips in the glass, and also where the powdercoating has chipped.

Also, note where the bracket has snapped.  Careful examination of the bracket shows that it's actually cast from cheese, rather than aluminium.

It's not worth the time to try to get our money back for a few tens of dollars.  Instead we figured we'd just leave the seller scathing feedback.

a lot of the time if you contact the seller, they will usually be accommodating with exchanges or flat out sending new bits

I wouldn't want a new bit from the same mob, as it likely would also be junk.

I like the copies I got from ebay ...they were $115 delivered.
but then I have not dropped or gone down, either.

Suzy, sorry to hear that.   IIRC, the outfit that made the nice knockoffs also made them for Triumph at 70-80 USD.  Here is an example:

That is not that far from the 60AUD that you quoted from Ebay.  They may even have them in stock at a local Triumph dealer so you and your daughter can check the quality.

For about the same dollars I got the Ride It Moto black mirrors shipped from Hong Kong.  They were  highly recommended in several places and I found the finish is great.  The hardware was junk, I and several others use Rizoma bar ends and it makes an unbeatable combo IMHP.

so the verdict is that ebay knock off mirrors are just no gouda?

I got a pair before and they are ok.  It didnt crack like the OP's but I would def get better screws etc as they tend to rust.  Either that or a dab of paint on top of it would prob keep that from happening.

The mirror quality was a bit iffy on mine however... but I'm guessing for these things it's always a YMMV.

Bought a set of M-Label Reverse Retro knock offs and they are holding up great.
No rust anywhere and the pivoting function works just like new.

Upon close inspection the Triumph seem to be sold individually at 80. Was the OP price for the pair?
