Can anyone give me and idea how to rid my bike of that ugly black square emissions thing on my 696? I see the ones they test rode in Spain didn't have them and they had a different shroud too. What do you do with the hoses afterward?

wrong.  nothing is needed to remove the evap canister.

the evap has several hoses, and two connections to your intake manifolds.

most of the hose can just be cut, the manifold nipples have to be plugged or removed and a screw put in the hold (M6 or M5, depends).

The TPO kit is for the crankcase vent setup, NOT for the evap canister.

Someone better tell Allan.

i was unaware of that kit -- you have got to be kidding me -- that is a big make the beast with two backsing ripoff.  i spent exactly 80 cents buying vacuum nipples for my manifolds (instead of the screws) and just routed the hoses down.

$25?  that's absurd!

FWIW, I got you beat by $.80.  I put two SS bolts from my parts bin in my manifold and jammed an old gas filter in my tank vent line.  But both you and I already had something the OP doesn't have: The experience to do it WITHOUT INSTRUCTIONS, which, IMO are what that $25 buys.

Before i picked up the bike the dealer asked if i real wanted the canister. Nope, presto magically gone.

I had zero dollars and about as much experience when I did mine 10,000 kms ago. I don't think it takes all that much technical know how to cut some hoses and cap 2 nipples  :-\

edit: unless the 696 is different. I think there is a plastic shroud that contours the cannister. I remember some guy on the board removed the shroud completely and it looked pretty good.

I just posted about this on accesories section. On the 696 are you removing the entire plastic shroud and just relocating the regulator? I was thinking of sourcing a CF piece that would be symetrical instead so that you could still mount the regulator and not have the obvious spot of where the canister used to be. I will have to see if there is a different shroud out there.

Just start taking stuff off and make sure there are no Vaccum  leaks.
