Hi guys, I bought my 1st Duc today.  [beer] I'm from Dothan Alabama, but I'm in Greenville, Tx working. I picked up 09 1100s with 2400 miles on it.
I've been riding a while about 22 years now, I'm getting old. I've been riding ape's for a while and decided to change brands. I have owned about 4 Aprilia's so far and I've liked them all, but they just don't hold their value very well.
The seller did tell me it was hard to start after it has been sitting a while, and he didn't lie. Any tips? I have read to pull in the clutch, and wait for the ecu light to go out. I did seem to help.
Hello again and I look forward to talking with you guys. (ya,ll)

Welome.

Can't help you with the new fangled tech - I've got a 2000. But I bet if you run a search in tech you might find some similar topics. If not, I think tech might be the best place to pose your question.

While intros are nice they don't get near as much attention as the other sections.

-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

1100S? Five minutes before you want to go for a ride, turn the key on, let the display scroll until the total mileage pops up, press and hold the starter. If it doesn't catch, turn it off. Come back in five minutes and repeat the above. It should fire and run. Let us know if this works. Fingers crossed, but don't just sit there cranking it. I think something has to "wake up" in the ECU. My 796 does the same, but found this method on an 1100S discussion somewhere else.

I'll try it. Thanks for the help. It seems like Ducati would have a fix for this. It sounds like starter is dragging. I haven't had time to look at it real close, maybe I can figure something out.

Thanks for the replies.

Starter dragging? Certainly not my issue and mine does this after not having been run for 24 - 72 hours, regardless of the charge state of the battery. Partly the Euro 3 / EPA lean mixture is at fault IMO but as I said, seems something also has to wake up in the ECU. Nothing much Ducati can do with the emissions standards. On older bikes upgrading the battery cables has also helped but I'm unsure about the difference that might make with the newer Siemens ECU bikes.

Try my suggestion and let us know what happens. There are so many variables and each bike will have different valve settings, etc., etc...
