I didnt have time to properly give the bike a rundown. Im in grand junction right now. Jarv. Where do u live? When i landed there was a multi 1200s in the terminal. I signed up to win it... I will pay to rent a bike if someone is willing!

Does it have to be Ducati?  There is a Vstrom 1000 on Denver CL for $4000

I mean, if you're wanting something like the Multi.  That TL/DL motor is nice.. 90 deg L twin, four valve, watercooled.. sound familiar?

that's pretty awesome, first person to get one should be He Man.

Can you give Brian at BMS a shout?   He's good, but in Boulder - that's probably not close to wherever you are.

I'm in Columbia, Missouri the entire boring ass state of Kansas away from ya and I wouldn't let you rent the 400 pound paper weight, lest you end up on the side of the road like I did. If you're driving through MO on the way back I can assure you there are some beers with your name on 'em. You've earned it :-).

I'm caught somewhere between saying "Hell no, I don't want your luck to cover my bike in chicken grease," and "Forget about the cash, just come pick up my 848 and its yours for a week".

I mean, really, you luck can swing pretty mad in either direction, one day to the next.

Send me a PM, and we'll see what we can work out.
I know you like zee Eight-Four-Eight.
I can tempt you with zee Eight-Four-Eight, can I not?
It is very Red, and very pretty, but it does not like to be covered in zee cooking grease...

The head(s) need work...and most likely some parts.

Gotta be someone in Columbus that can handle a valve job...if you supply the parts...

it ain't rocket science.

Actually, I know someone about an hour south of GJ that would be willing to help if you get the bike shipped to GJ...

I bought my bike from Motohio which is just outside of Columbus. You could drop them a line.

was it an adjustable pulley that readjusted itself? (I didn't think they could adjust that far, but I've never played with 'em for the purposes of finding when they'll contact the piston...)

He Man

I bought the nut from motohio atually. they were very nice.

as far as the damage. the crank shaft spun when the belts stop moving.

there is a key on the crank shaft that gets the timing gear to spin, the gear came off that key, so the timing stopped but the piston kept moving. When i pulled over to fire it up. only the clutch plate was spinning. the timing gear was not, hence no spark.

lazyjinglin717,
I dont have a place to work on the bike or tools to work on the bike. And I dont know what needs to be done. so i dont know how much help your friend can offer (unless they are a mechanic!).

if i need to pull the head off and replace the piston and the valve then id need special tools to get the head off no?

from that it sounds like perhaps the alt nut backed out so things could move away from the center of the crank (laterally), allowing that small gear on the crank to either quit contacting / spinning the layshaft gear and/or the woodruff key fell out and it ceased to spin all together...  unless i'm misunderstanding what you are saying.
