So I just finished day 2 of my 5 day trip.  I left yesterday from Phoenix AZ.  Spent last night in Albuquerque, NM.  Yesterday was 400mi of smooth sailing.  wind at my back, nice weather.  Today, different story.  Once I got into Oklahoma.  Nothing by nasty crosswinds.  But I made it safely to my 2nd day rest stop.  Now I'm in Chandler OK.  Just wanted to share with you guys some pictures!  All my gear are holding up great!  Next stop, Effingham, IL.  This is my route

Nice!  I know that route.  PHX..17N to Flag..40W to ALQU to Amarillo..to turnpikes to OKC & Tulsa..etc.  Taken it to the midwest (too) many times!  Too long in a car.  You and HeMan get the iron butt awards this year!

Have fun!!  [thumbsup]

Yeah, I took a similar route in 2010, riding from San Diego to Cleveland in 4 days.  SD --> Albuquerque (that was a long day) --> OK City --> St. Louis --> Cleveland.  In 2011, I took the southern route, San Diego to New Hampshire, via New Orleans (with a nice weekend stop at Barber Raceway).  The Monster tours remarkably well; I did not expect that when I bought it.  600 miles a day is pretty easy.  More than that requires specific intent.

did much of the same route from Vegas to Toronto in 3 days, a few years back.

I found it a truly boring ride, but I was under a time crunch and had spent a couple extra days tooling around Nevada/California and had to boogie home.

Hope you get the time to get off the interstate and enjoy the scenery.

I actually see over it just fine even with the bag extended.  I can see the instrument gauges and GPS no problem too.  The bag makes a great chest rest from time to time.

For like 3-4 hours.  It sucked!

mysticbluex3

I made it!

Took me 5 days.  I would have to say most of the ride was pretty boring.  Especially through the mid-west.  Its kind of funny the things you see like the worlds best crucifixion cross, worlds biggest rocking chair, worlds biggest gift store, etc...  It was nice to finish the trip riding through  Vermont.  Just absolutely beautiful.  I'm glad I took the longer scenic route instead of the faster highway route.

I found that 9-10hours on the bike a day is about all I can take (no mater the mileage).  Also taking brakes every hour helps too.

and finally....

Are there any Ducati groups in the New Hampshire area?

There's NEDOC which covers all of New England... www.nedoc.org

There is also a Yahoo group that is New England based that is just an email list... CDRNE@yahoogroups.com

Props to you on that Mystic! Pretty inspiring... I may have some time on my hands early this fall and am wondering where I might end up if I loosed the reigns on the monster.  Thanks for sharing and enjoy the riding in the Green/white mountains!  [beer]
