i am sitting here reading the board when my bike alarm pager goes off. not the shock sensor mind you but the tilt and shock sensor which tells me someone sat on my shit. i guess the alarm ran them off because when i got there they were gone. i walked around and didn't c anyone. could have been a false alarm but with both sensors going off i doubt it. either way i said screw it and pulled her up on the sidewalk by the window to our room.

I have a shotgun. I'll watch it for you. Then again, who'd be watching my shit? Some morons think it's OK to sit on your bike. Gee, wanna try that with someones car? Had some hispanic/mexican (??didn't speak english??) dude decide to sit on my RC51 in front of Action Suzuki/Kawasaki like he was testing out a bike for sale on the showroom. He may not have spoken english but he seemed to understand "get the make the beast with two backs off my damn bike" perfectly. Beware crazy middle aged gringos... stay away from their shit. I have seen other people do it to friend's bikes. It's like they are petting your dog. They don't draw the line between a friendly dog pet and sitting on your bike. Kinda felt like a turd for yelling at the guy. He didn't really mean any harm... but how did I know that?

LYD

Glad everything is cool.  always and I mean always ask to sit on someone else's bike, even if it is a friend.  A friend will say sure throw a leg over no problem, but always ask.  I don't even like when some people get to close to the LYD.

Brian I will come over and watch your bikes for you, just leave the keys in them for me.  Oh and can I sit on them??

Although I appreciate the idea of a quick violent armed response to anyone foolin' with your bike  [evil] I thought maybe you could try a cover for it when it is unattended at night.

A buddy of mine used to always cover his even on pretty days and explained that it kept the birdshit and shitheads off the bike when he wasn't around. I know it seems a shame to put a burka on your bike .. but if it works?

O.K. back to testosterone filled posts that are much more satisfying !!  [leo] [leo] [leo]

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

...this is why I'm always nice to you.

I know one member of our group uses a cover. As they say, you covet what you see every day. At least it will keep it out of sight.

I use a cover at work every time I ride, no biggie really and it's nice knowing that noone knows what's under the bike cover sometimes

Agreed. Covers work. Multi function too, keeps dirt, rain, bird poop, etc. down to a minimum and it has the old "out of sight, out of mind" thing going for it. The duffass that would normally sit on your bike is probably stupid enough to think that someone left their covered BBQ grill in the parking lot and will pass on by. Thereby saving you shotgun ammo! [thumbsup]

so i get up this morning and the mngr had the night lady place a yellow warning sticker on my bike. she said she just kinda tossed it on because she didn't want to set off the alarm. i explained to her the reason for parking up there she said i would have to talk to him. i go to work and call this shithead 4 times between 8 and 3 before he calls me back. i explain to him the reason for my parking outside the window he said he didn't care because it meant other patrons would have to walk around it. i told him i am in the corner room in the back the only people walkin around is my wife and i. i then explained to him that i will bring a f'n car battery from work and just let the damn alarm go off all night and not even give a shit who it wakes up. i had spoken with an arlington detective earlier at work and he said the only thing they could do is ask me to cut it off but if it was set off again they prob wouldn't deal with it until the next morn because they have other issues than a bike alarm that won't go off. i then gave the mngr the name and number of his competitor who assured that there would be no prob. he said he would call me back and he did and told me there would be no prob w/ my parking there. the girl at the desk told my wife that he hung up w/ me and then called the number i gave him. then he called me back. my wife told her that as stubborn as i can be she's not surprised i didn't tell him to f*** off and just go to another hotel. btw if u don't know the only reason i am here is because our new house is not ready yet however i did go get a cheap bike cover from the autozone across the street this evening but i am not really sure how much of a deterent that is.

Good thing they didn't drop the bike as they left.

That cover makes it more likely they won't "sit" on it.  Use a chain around the wheels just to add another "hassle" factor to opportunistic thieves.

How about getting a bar of clay and sticking some wires in it and running to the back of the instrument cluster.  The blinking immobilizer light looks like it's armed to explode.  Just don't tell Homeland security it was my idea. ;D
