"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Ducatiz, aren't you a lawyer? Doesn't that make these guys think twice before jerking you around? When dealing with companies like these I always put "Esq." next to my name.  [evil]

and putting Esq after your name might be a crime in your state since it's illegal to hold yourself out as a lawyer without a license to do so, so be careful.

Exactly.

Insurance companies have plenty of lawyers on staff.

There is no profit in paying claims, and if they end up litigating it they just write off the costs.

Folk with newer cars - get a price on full glass coverage.  I don't have a complete price beak down, but comprehensive for 6 months for my Audi is 134.40 for 6 months with a $1000 deductible.  This is in Da Bronx, most expensive place to insure a car in NYC.  Unfortunately, two windshield in two years.  Fortunately, cost us $0.00.  Also, even though your insurance company might try to send you to Safelight you can go where you want.  Also, fortunately, there is no cheap aftermarket glass for my car.

Other than being somewhat more pompous (useful on occassion  ;)) signing a name  "Fred J. Bloggs Esq."  is no different than signing as  "Mr. Fred J. Bloggs."

How does it imply membership of the legal profession??

I have State Farm and love them. We have full coverage for SUV, Truck, Bike, House and a $50,000 add on to cover our toys with $100 deductible. We pay about $180 for all and we also can get one new window per year per car FREE. I live in Colorado so we get rock chips and pitting easy. I have had other company's but never the get service and customer care. It took us about five years to get our rate this low. My wife even backed into my work truck and they did not raise her rate since she had a clean record before. Nicole our agent even sends us a real not mass mailed x-mas card. LOL

Well.. it's a tricky issue actually.  The term is not in law, but you'll never see anyone using it who isn't an attorney or pretending to be one.

I have a case somewhere in which a man was using it and was admonished by the court over it.  He was sending threatening letters regarding his property and when he showed up in court, the recipients pointed out that he had used it along with the threat of legal action.  Court found it was an attempt to appear as an attorney.

So if you sign your library card with "Esq" then it's probably ok.

Say you're latin and add a second last name.

Had Progressive for years. Florida is a no-fault state. No issues with claims. They would send someone to take pictures of the scene. Kinda wish my mother-in-law would have had them when she crashed, she would have saved herself the agony of dealing with the annoying lady and her precious Benz, that you could barely see the scratch.

Never used Safelite. Always had soomeone replace the whole thing. They've actually come to my office and done it in the parking lot. Cost me about $150 last time it happened.

most states will not let you change your name for fraudulent purposes.

A guy back home tried to change his first name to Dr.  Yup.  "D-R-period"

court told him to pound sand.
