Only leather protects you from the kind of abrasion you may encounter in an accident or crash on a motorcycle . All else doesn't count !

Rec'd mine last week and finally tested past Sunday.  The pants were nicely made with CE knee protectors and in loose style.  2 Velcro side pockets (good size which I put my cell, garage opener, and most important - cigarettes).  The pants are double layer, the outer material is thick and dense (I believe it provides some abrasion protection) and makes the pants heavy ( I guess at least 6~7 pounds).  Fit and finish is good and they feel sturdy.

Cool weather - rode on freeway about 58F at ~80 mph, didn't feel any cold windchill like I did when wearing jeans. 
Hot weather - rode on local street with tons of lights and stop signs at 85F, still didn't feel any hot stream coming from engine compartment and exhaust headers while on idling.  I believe the double layer helps. 

Regarding the protection part - the knee protectors are as thick as my Dainese leather pants. I believe the outer material provide certain abrasion protection.  BUT nothing can compare with leather pants in my opinion.

They are worth $120.

Thanks for the review.  I totally agree with you about leather, but I'm looking for something that I can possibly ware to work, as my commute is only about 2-4 mins each way ( I usually leave early and take a lap or two around campus, just so I can warm her up before I put her right back down).  I really should start walking into work, but who walks when they can throw a leg over a Ducati instead?

I have these pants... I live in the Pacific Northwest, and they are not designed to hold out water..at all...

I'd say they last about 10 minutes of steady rain before your jeans are soaked in the crotch. Some scotch guard or nickwax stuff might improve this some, but clearly these are not intended as wet weather gear. I'll still use them in a drizzle (which is often) but I know that in a steady rain it will look like I've wet myself. As a bonus, they dry pretty fast!
