Hey DMFers,
This will probably be a long and rambling post so bear with me. I recently returned from working overseas and got to meet my 2006 S2R1K that I bought on flea bay. At this point I have to pause and thank my brother (Nomad on this site) who was invaluable in making sure the sale and shipping was taken care of in my absences. Also a big thanks to the previous owner, Patrick who took fantastic care of the bike.
So first things, the bike is gorgeous and I love it! I haven't ridden in over 10 years and my previous bike was a CBR 600 so I was a bit a bit nervous about moving up to the 1000 after so long an absence. My first ride was only about 10 minutes due to the onset of rain (I love the NW) and I was very uncomfortable with the controls and the whole experience in general and was really questioning on whether I made the right decision to buy a bike. We've been riding when we could the last couple of days and things are much better! I have gotten used to being on a bike again and it isn't taking so much mental energy to make things work. My biggest problem right now is getting used to the twin and having to make smooth throttle movements. I can't believe how much more engine braking there is than a 4 cylinder, it's crazy I feel like I don't even need brakes!
Anyway, breakfast is done so I am going to sign off here. I have been lurking on the forum for a while and have enjoyed reading everything you all have posted. So thanks to all the DMF members for creating such a great site.

Congratulations man!  Glad you are getting back into the swing of things.  The engine braking of a twin is addictive.  I love it and use it/rely on it when hitting the twisties.

Have fun!!!
