i've had my 2007 695 dark for about a year now, living in madison wi.
i grew up on a farm in central wisconsin - we had horses and motorcycles. my dad taught me to ride both, but mostly my brothers rode the bikes and i rode the horses. my dad died not too long ago and left me a bit of money. the monster caught my eye at rockerbox in milwaukee last year, and i couldn't stop thinking about it. i took out a little of my dad's money and bought one. riding makes me fell connected to my dad and all our family history, growing up with fast horses and fast bikes.
the monster really takes my breath away. for now, i'm just hoping for a long fall and a short winter. see you all in the forum.

Welcome Robin!

I saw you posted on my intro-thread already, so I used that motivation to add an update there with a bunch of pictures and stuff.  Although, my group pics could sure use another Ducati!

I was on my monster going through your town last night as I play volleyball at Ten Pin but live out in Mt. Horeb.  Only 10 miles away, wouldn't be too hard to meet up some time.  And on that note, I'm actually going for a ride tomorrow afternoon with a couple of coworkers on JJ/78 down towards Yellowstone Lake.  Short notice, but more than welcome to join.

Anyway, welcome aboard and lets see some pics of that new ride when you get the chance!

i would actually LOVE to see that -  i've never been there. it's so beautiful in the hills west of madison. unfortunately i can't get away tomorrow, but please let me know the next time you plan a similar ride!

Welcome - Mod as you see fit. IF that's not to mod at all, so be it.

At the other end of the spectrum is Suzy, or mad Aussie electrical engineer who has totally disassembled her 695. She's DIY ported and polished her engine heads, Anodized part, is dispensing with the too old school for her fuses and more - quite a bit of work!

Do what suits you

Though common mods for the 6xx monsters are to get a hold of better front brakes, forks and shock. All those items can be gathered up from the 2nd hand market for not much cash - though when buying used one should budget for a going over. And in the case of suspension parts, a tune to suit you.

Enjoy the bike - I do most of my own work and it was my late dads DIY spirt that let's me get in there with out (much) fear and put a wrench to the bike or a saw to wood.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.
