Tpo?

Edit: found what you were talking about. Not what I am looking for. Need to find some metal mesh that matches the OEM screen in my tank covers.

I've been thinking about replacing the stock mesh with TPOs.

Detroit117

There are lots of different options if you are just wanting to change out the mesh in your tank covers.

After I got the belly pan. I had an idea to fit mesh in the ducts formed in it. Don't want two different screen designs on the bike. So, I either need to find some that matches or change the mesh on the bike. The mesh in the tank covers is set into the black plastic bezels. Which means changing it wouldn't be too easy.

Although, the more I look at the screen options I have. The more I want to change them.  ;D

Still, if anyone knows where I can find some OEM style metal mesh. Please let me know.

Raux

If you look how they are in the bezels, it's just sticky tape.

Detroit117

Is that how yours is held in?  ???

I have had my tank covers off a few times and I am sure that the metal screens aren't held in with tape.

Found a photo. You can see where the screen is actually inlaid into the black plastic.

I'll double check mine. I have both stock and a DP 80's skin. They may be different.

Hey when youve got some spare time, can you machine me a new clutch side engine case so I can rock a dry clutch?

No reason for you to pull your tank skins off. Good chance there are variations in the way the mesh is held from OEM to aftermarket.

That's my father's car, was his only car for most of the 70s. Now has modern suspension, steering, and brakes. Plus, a 350 small block that makes just over 400 HP.  [evil]
We build two kinds of projects at our shop: stuff to sell and "keepers". That is one of his keepers. I'll put up some photos when I get a chance.

Probably, but you could more than likely buy one cheaper than I could cut one. If you are really interested I can do a cost estimate for you.

Bike update:

Time for an oil change, so I picked up A FLO oil filter. Means I never have to buy another oil filter for my bike, but more importantly It adds some billet bling to my engine.  :)

Repainted the body work. Had to since I wanted to change the stickers on the tank covers and they are set into the clear coat. [bang] Decided to do the front fender and the rear seat cowl as well, to take care of the scratches and rock chips my bike got over the last 15,000 miles.

Shop update:

Made a coolant crossover so I can run an aux. waterpump, and the rest of the alternator bracket. If you look under the flywheel there is an aluminum arm that a turnbuckle will push against to put tension on the belt.

Better look at the spine in the middle of the assembly the will direct fluid to either side of the block.

Other stuff:

Drag bike that belongs to a buddy of mine that competes in the ADRL. Not really my thing, but you can not beat 0-100 in about a second  ;D

Nah, thats ok.  If I find myself with an extry $4,000 that Im having trouble spending Im planning to get the 848 dryclutch conversion kit and retro fit it to the 796.  (And no one start with me...I KNOW it doest fit...yet)
