Was on the hunt for an M900 , however, ended up settling on this 02 S4.  Not sure what's coming on and what's coming off as she started with a fair amount of nice modifications....

I do know the forks and shock will need new rings.  The ones I received from RaceTech was pretty money.  i'm not going to change the tank/wheel colors cause I think the bike looks really this nice way.  Will most likely change the decals and add a stripe somewhere.

We'll see where this thing will take me.....

The 916 SSS is slimmer than the M900 engine.  Trim down the sides of the engine, dig out the bearings, fit the SSS.  Get rid of the shock holder on the M900 frame, weld a new holder, install a new pivot and brace. Re-route top exhaust header if necessary.

Now with the S2R the SSS conversion is not really born out of necessity.

Good luck.

Oh yes, the SSS rear shock may also result in a higher height.  This will affect the sidestand.

The solution is to reduce the length of the shock's strut, but you may have to re-thread the strut if the threads are too short.

Travman

I think it would be easier if you use a S2R or S4R SSS.

Do not ever think about changing the colors. I'll come smack you if you do! Senna colors are teh secksy

As far as gearing CA-cycle works will have the stock gearing so you can see how much it's been changed out
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

sorry the guy took your bike away.......well my bike until he paid.  You'd have a very nice M900 :P :P :P

I think the gold contrast would be great with the brakes, rotors and rear carrier.  Another that could work would be a stone grey but then it'd be over doing it on the color scheme.  Start slowly and do it tastefully.....well, most have tried and most have failed.  ;D
best looking fender on any Monster IMO http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/006D7/Carbon/006D7.html
(clear coat all carbon)
don't swap the rotors unless you stick to the same color and add some red buttons, and lastly consider powder coating the belt covers black to add contrast.  I think that would look great.

ok, is it just me, but I wouldn't change a thing on that bike. maybe get it all up to specs on seals/brakes/belts, etc. but the bike is as perfect an S4 as I've seen.

The bike has been done well.  There are just a couple of things for me I prefer.  Mostly the clipons and a proper suspension setup.  I was able to talk the seller down to a lower price because I had to cover the 12K service so it's all buttoned up from DucPond.

[clap] on PCing the belt covers.
[clap] on the CF front fender.  Might take a dremel to that just a wee bit
[thumbsdown] to the low mount pipes.  Keep'em high my friend

Thanks for the thought on the rotors.....Might have to go with Brembo's if I want to keep the color going.  Galfers don't come in that color.

Not changing the color on that bike.  I dig it.  Might add a vinyl stripe of some sort but thats a TBD.  Kinda like the deception.  My S2R has the S4R racing stripe placement and this may get something similar or a one off......

Anyone know if a SSS shock off an S2R will fit an S4?  Otherwise the searh will be on at some point for a more suitable rear shock

Powercoat the swingarm to match the frame and leave it at that.

That's a beautiful bike.   [thumbsup]

wow, that thing is beautiful.  I wouldn't touch a thing (ahahahahahahha, i'm lyin my ass off).  but it is pretty as hell.  good score man.  rearsets, clip ons, and LOW MOUNT PIPES even though I know you don't like em, and powdercoat those belt covers for sure, that would really set off a little contrast.  I'm so in love with those rizoma belt covers.  impossible to find and out of production.  you did well my man.

Stock gearing was 15/37.

I put a 39 on the rear and it is fantastic.

I don't do much around town riding though.

Keep the high mounts and paint the rad covers red.

Stock S4 had the Brembo snowflakes up front AFAIK.

Bike looks great man. The S4 is a great bike.

Dunno if it's the lighting, but that rear disc looks funky.

Lazyj is correct, they did come with snowflakes.

Thanks for all the tips.

< side question> Do I turn my S2R into a track bike or keep two beauty queens in the garage?  Did Cal. Superbike School again this year and would like to do more track days.  Getting $$$ using their machines vs. mine, just worried about tracking my S2R in current form and laying it down
