Anyone else on The Gear Page?

I joined that forum mostly so I could get an item listed in their classifieds area, but I've recently begun playing my guitars a lot more frequently so I thought I'd join in on some conversations.

I gotta say it is one of the most disorganized, immature, and petty forums I've ever encountered.  There are so many members that your thread will be on page 3 within an hour.  Thread topics are never searched for so there are redundancies and whenever someone makes that mistake they're called out for it in a really insulting manner.  And it feels like those posting there, while adults, never matured past the 6th grade.  I had mentioned that I thought a posted YouTube video was disrespectful of police officers, and the general response was 'who cares' and 'the pigs deserve it'.

If I ever go back there it certainly won't be for the community, it would be to pose a technical question and then GTFO.  Really makes me appreciate knowing there are good folks here to converse with, even though I'm not able to ride anymore.

It seems to be pretty common.  Go check out Ducati.org.

I think the internet just brings that out in people.

DMF is not perfect, nothing is. I screw up as much as anyone on this board. But, for the most part this forum is the best I have ever been on. Lots of good info, intelligent posts and respectful (and funny as hell) members. Doesn't get much better. Big props to the flounders!! ;) [thumbsup]
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.

And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

I hear he's around, maybe on the gun thread.

Btw I went over to Gear and I didnt see any problems with it. Do you have a link to what you are talking about?

You gotta spend some time on it to get the vibe.  I'd have to go and search for specifics, but they're probably on page 60 by now and I don't have the energy, though one example is they had a Best Female Legs thread.  The general atmosphere just isn't my cup of tea.  [coffee]

The CDC was very unPC and we were rude in general. It was a great place to go and be a asshole, but we all knew each other so that was fine.

Yes, a frat house is a good comparison.

Dirty Duc

certain other moto pages are entirely full of unbridled ass-hattery.

I can forgive certain long-standing forums, but others where the tech threads are inundated with "You'll destroy your bike and you are an asshole for even considering changing the god-sent bliss that is the factory version!" really put me off.

I tried to check out the Triumph forum and I could not even hack it for an hour, not because they were mean, just obnoxious. Anyway, many people think the DMF is full of obnoxious people, so to each their own.

The guys that frequent ADVrider rarely leave for a reason. I actually enjoy browsing around there.

There, like most places, the things I write seem to be generally ignored.  [cheeky]

Yeah, and ADV tech threads are actually useful.  The ride reports are usually interesting and informative.  Despite the attitude, the community appears to be pretty supportive of members in real life...  sounds like another forum I hang out on.
