I found a triple clicker 8987, but i need to order the proper eyelet size for the Duc and the proper valve. Im going to try to get it installed myself and then pay the shop to charge it with gas.

Is anyone familiar with ordering from them? seems like they have multiple eyelets but im sure if they are a generic fit or not.

Has anyone installed the 8987 on their Monster?

Call them up - they are cool dudes.

As far as upper eyelet length goes, I believe you want what they know as as the 1098 eyelet, which is longer than some and allows proper clearance at the rocker.

You might find it cheaper just to have Penske rebuild/modify that unit for you.

Every shock they sell is built to order.

The one i picked up was for a ZX6R. Im not sure how much a full rebuild is , ill call and ask. ive heard they have great customer service. If they have a good flat rate for complete rebuild, ill ship it over to them to avoid the head ache.

This is the shock. its sort of sad looking. Chrome looks good. the rubber bumper is still soft, but is hella dirty. needs to get replaced. im not sure if that green seal is blown or if its just like that.
but got it at more than 75% of retail new.

Yes it seems like the eyelet will interfere! I wonder how much that and the lower eyelet is going to cost me. along with the rebuild...

Penske's rebuild prices are very competitive - plus they have every possible spare and fixit part on hand.  Just do it.  You'll get it back properly valved for your application and with a dyno sheet record.

I see now the "eyelet" is actually the lower part, and the upper part in my pics is termed the "body cap."

ill need both. im hoping i dont have to spend more than $250 in parts and labor to get her tuned up. Penske list their rebuild at $125.00

Im going to chat with then and see if they can throw in the labor for free since all those parts are coming off anyway. If not ill buy them and install them, then send it off for the rebuild.

BK,

Did you get that shock recently or quite a while ago?

Had the shock a few years now - winter 2008 I think.  I recall that there were a few of us that got the wrong body cap because Penske apparently didn't correct their monster specs in a "timely" manner.

did you get the hose and fittings from them? or did you get them elsewhere? this shock has the straight fitting with a 8 inch hose.

I got the whole thing from Penske.  Srtraight fitting might be OK depending on the "clocking" of the fitting and whether or not you have the black plastic oil recovery unit in place.  90 degree fitting gives more mounting options.  Easy for them to change during rebuild if necessary.  Notice I had them change mine when they changed the body cap.

cool, ill ring them up on monday and get a price quote. im excited.

Think through your layout very carefully before you talk specifics with Penske.  YOU will have to decide where everything goes.  Unlike Ohlins they are very much a custom shop and can do it up any way you want (and that's both good and bad).  Below is how I rigged mine, but your remote compression chamber probably has a top fitting, so with a shorter hose you'd probably mount on the opposite rail for example.  Lots of options.  Again, try and lay it out in advance and check clearances.

Dirty Duc

yep.  That's what I have.  Mine did require adjusting the elbow; as shipped the hose went in an inappropriate direction.

It works fantastically.  Get a sock for it.

Magnus

Got mine from Lindemann Engineering...  Jim knows Penske shocks very well.
