Ho! Ho! Ho! from Germany!

Hi there, fellow community-members,

I just want to say hello since I´m a new member of this Forum. I come from the very northern end of Germany (almost Denmark) and I´ve bought my first Ducati a few weeks ago. That´s what ist looks like:

A Moster S2R1000! 
It´s not my first bike (Intruder, Goldwing ;-) ) and maybe not the last but I´m sure it´s one of the nicest!
Maybe it was not the wisest descision to buy it in winter, for I´m keen on riding it but theres a lot of this white stuff lying around, making the streets slippery....so I´ve got a lot of time to read and learn about my new Bella.

Yes, take some time to read an learn about your new ride. Depending on the care it's received previously it might be due for some items that you could probably accomplish. Of course I don't know how much of your own work you like to do or are capable of. But this might be a good time to start learning more if you're interested in that sort of thing.

And unlike Raux, I'm not local. But if you find yourself travelling to Washington D.C. there are plenty of us in that area who don't need much excuse to gather for a beer. Even if it is lame american beer.

Hehe, Raux lives almost 800 km away from me....not really local (for germans ;-) )
Thanx for the chance for a beer in Washington D.C. ...who knows...maybe I´ll come around some day....even for lame US-beer! But then I´ll bring some of my own beer which I brew together with a friend of mine. Nevertheless I heard about excellent Micro-Breweries over there in the USA so there is a lot to explore...

Unfortunately customs would not allow you to bring your own beer. They have no sense of humor about that.

But once a year I get to have real german beer, not the alternate import. The Bundeswehr Luftwaffe has a hanger that is sovereign territory, like an embassy, where they host an Oktober Fest. They fly in beer and other goodies which do not have to pass customs as they never leave 'germany' - That's some good beer and good food!

We do have some really good brews available in the US these day truth be told. Though there's been a very strong (over) hop trend the last year or two. The result has been a glut of beers that taste of nothing but (too much) hop. But, there's plenty of other well done US beers as well.

Sure - but it's getting more difficult to get folks into. We needed an additional step to get 2 tickets for friends who have been attending with us for years. It used to be easy to get tix, but it got too big so they puts some light limits on it, which people then abused  - selling the free tickets on Craigslist etc. Understandably this was viewed as tacky and rude (go 'merica  ) so further restrictions have been put in place.

In northern Germany we don´t traditionally have an "Oktoberfest", they only use that for the money to make with. But we can have a nice beer any time in the year...should make a song of it! For example nice Flensburger Pilsener. My hometown has a small brewerie as well: Husumer Beer from our Beer-Brewer-Master Jens Nachtwein.
