HOA's are not the problem...tattle tale neighbors and busybodies whom have no life so they assume a position on/in an HOA are where issues like this exist at times....

BINGO!!!  He have THREE 15MPH signs in my neighborhood because I do shakedown runs through my neighborhood before I hit public streets.  We don't even have a mile of streets (NOT state/city/county maintained) in the neighborhood.  When I'm riding through in first gear to be sure I didn't do something stupid like forget to attach something important, one of the neighbors stopped me and said I was riding entirely too fast (<20MPH mind you) and needed to just not ride my motorcycle in the neighborhood at all.

Next meeting?  He proposed a bunch of signs showing the speed limit and anytime someone wasn't observing a safe speed the police should be called.  I didn't bother telling him that in NC if the STATE, CITY or COUNTY didn't put up the sign (also requires a public document detailing EXACT address where speeds change as well) a citation can't be written.  I'm WAITING on the day he calls the cops.  That's gonna be a funny conversation.

Well, the wish has been running a campaign for the past 2 days. Apparently some lies were told as to how much effort we have put towards getting the tenants "legally" established. Fortunately my wife has kept all the emails sent to the management company. She met today with the renters and the board president and they feel confident that it will be worked out.

I still wonder if exposing my friend's sister-in-law to this make the beast with two backsing HOA is not cruel and unusual punishment.

No don't like everybody dictating my business. It's best not to have an HOA.

You would need to go to the sticks in Florida to find an area without an HOA. When I say the sticks, I mean like the swamp or the ghetto.

You could come here.

One more week and I will be off my HOA as board president. 3 year terms, first year I was secretary, second as VP and last as pres. I have never wanted one week to go by so fast! The BOD received death threats from a disgruntled owner after we swept his bank account. This guy is a nut job that had the cops called on him by the concierge staff. Come to find out, he was beating his 10 year old son. We have another owner that owes the HOA 35 thousand and keeps offering 3 to settle.

Most of the 176 units are no problem. The handful that are take up a lot of time and work. We have one guy that owns a popular dive bar comes driving in at 0300, drunk, stoned, and passed out in the wrong parking spot with the engine running. We have called the cops, 911 for EMS and had him towed more then once. Now he hangs out in the lobby yelling about how we are after him.

That's pretty far out. We were just talking about some of the stuff we had going on. But its not like that.

Thw biggest issue at our complex is with people trying to run businesses out of their units. Remember that my area are mostly retirees. We do have one guy that goes to the pool area to take showers to lower his water bill. We also have a "no motorcycles" rule. They towed my bike one year because a douche on the other side of the complex parked his for a month and I so happened to decide to park mine for one night the day that the tow truck just happened to decide to take the other guy's. I was mostly happy to find out it was 't stolen.

Yes, they do ask about car stuff, but, I usually go like "the other day a guy called in, asked me to go and see his car, I said, if you cannot bring it to me, it'll be $110.00, $85.00 for diagnostic and $25.00 for mobility fee", they suddenly find it not necessary to ask me about cars . .  but, when they were building the entrance gate, I said that it would be better if they 'leveled' the 90° pieces of steel used as rail for the gates rollers . . . the guys installing them said "we know what we're doing, plus, we give a 2yr wty" . . . now, the 2yrs are gone and the gates are having issues, one of the rails has a 'gouge' and the rollers get stuck and the door wont open fully and therefore wont close .  .  .

They have asked me "what equipment do you need to fix it?"  I asked, me, fix it? Can you pay my fees? Or are you going to wave my house fees for a year, at least? 'Cause, I will need someone to help me do this in 2 days, cannot do it during the week since I work from 8~5 M~F . .

That's the reason for so much visits and being nice to me lately . . . My fees to fix the gates, labor only, they supply materials, $750.00 > I must pay my helper/ Yearly fees, $360.00 . . . Up to them now

I spoke when they were erecting the gates  . . . NO one listened to the "crazy motorcycle guy"

My building has a rental cap. He was found to be renting outside of the cap. The fine for that is $2,000 a month. He took us to court and lost. Fines, late fee's, interest, legal costs, the hoa dues he is not paying, etc. It all adds up over the months.
