I'm looking for a decent lid for the girlfriend to use as a passenger... I'm thinking in the $100-$150 price range because money is tight right now, and she's never ridden before... There's always the chance she might not like it...

I saw some HJC's online (pink one's too) that look like they might fit the bill... I've only ever had a Shoei, and my current is Suomy... Any problems with the HJC helmets I should be aware of?

Was thinking about this one...

Don't limit yourself to helmets marketed to women. They're exactly the same as the ones marketed to men except for pink vomit.

She needs to put a bunch of helmets on her noggin. One will fit best. Buy that one.

This

A poor fitting helmet is one way to insure she doesn't enjoy riding (perching on a Monster might be another way).

My first helmet was a HJC.  I didn't have any previous experience to compare it to, but it fit well and had great airflow.  Once I got my Arai, I noticed that the HJC was pretty loud by comparison, but other than that, it was a great starter helmet.  I never fell on my head to give it any kind of ultimate test though.
This isn't a dress rehearsal for life - this is it!

I just say congrats to finding her an actual helmet. I laugh/cry when I see a rider decked out in gear and he leaves his unwitting girlfriend to fend against the asphalt wearing nothing but shorts, a tank top, and a "German" brain bucket with a Hasbro sticker inside.

Important: always check your battery filter and regularly change your headlight fluid.

Again, this.

Not only will a poor-fitting helmet make the ride less enjoyable, it'll offer less protection in the event of an "event."

I'm partial to Sparx helmets. They're $100-150 RETAIL and they fit my head like they were made for it.

Since she's gonna be the one wearing it, you might want to make helmet shopping something you guys do together. An ugly, ill-fitting helmet is probably one of the safest ways to guarantee you never have a passenger.

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

If shes a Small or an Extra Small its always easy to find those sizes in an Arai or a shoei at bargain basement prices. check ebay.

That's a classy looking lid. Now where's her bike?

I like hjc.  My first one was about $85. I wore it for a few years then crashed at mosport. I landed on the side of my head at 50 mph or so.

In the gravel trap.

It hurt. I liken it to getting hit in the head by a 2x4. The helmet was toast and the visor wouldn't close all the way on one side.

I'm sure I had a concussion but I walked away and can still write my name by myself :D

My replacement was another hjc. $115 or so for that one. Still wearing it.
