Under the seat heat?

So after a few rides here in the heat of California I realized I need to do something to fix what can only be described as "Burning bum" I have decided to try a couple of things to fix it.

1: Saddlemen seat with the split.  Figure it it ain't touching the bum it can't be burnt.
2: Line the bottom of the new seat with this stuff; Thermo-Tec 13575 12" X 24" Adhesive Backed Heat shield.

Has anyone here used this stuff under their seat before?

Used something similar on my 999's saddle.  There wasn't that much difference that I could tell.



Used this stuff on the underside of my Aprilia's gas tank:

 Just having a reflective surface isn't enough, you need some dead air space as well. There are sheets of metalized stuff with bubbled that would work best. I have not looked them up butt have seen the stuff used in AirStream trailer walls.

How about relocating the voltage regulator maybe

I sthe vo9ltage regulator right under the seat on a 2013 Evo?  Anything that would help needs to be done.  At times it is like all of a sudden a red hot poker goes straight up my bum............  so bad gotta stand up!

it's the rear header on the Evo.

best way is the create another heat barrier, between the bottom of the subframe/tank and the header
putting it on the seat itself will just absorb the heat onto the material and transfer it to the seat.

you need air like mentioned before, between the shield and the seat

Pretty sure the its under the rhs oil cooler shroud, so nothing to be gained there.

I hated the arse-frying on my M696, I found ceramic coating the exhaust helped.

This is the first heat complaint I've seen on the Evo with the low mount exhaust. I have had no complaints with my exhaust with its similar design. Heat wrapping or ceramic coating the header will most certainly help. And the volt reg is no longer under the tail, that's the old gen Monsters.

Only issue with heat on the EVO i've had is on my left leg.  Which is where the header crosses forward by my leg.  But under the ass heat?  I can't say I've had that but I haven't ridden in 100+ weather either.

Try the hardware store for 1\8" vent pipe insulation, foil on both sides with are pockets in between,  Cheap to.

Bo that is a great idea!  I have though about using that stuff to insulate my metal out building.  I think I am going to try it out!
