Is sad news to here the 600 WWII vets die every day.  I was proud to see that many local flags were at half staff in honor of today.

He man, where are all the ads?

If you have a chance to talk to one of these men. Don't take it lightly.

The wife and I made lifelong friends thanks to Honor Flight

Mr Lara served mostly in Europe in the army air corps, then transferred to the army, and is quite the troublemaker [evil] ( He just turned 90)

Mr Ash served stateside, and ended up in a small town northwest of Bakersfield, teaching generations of kids there  :D ( everytime we take him to lunch or breakfast, everybody in town tell us they had him as a teacher)

My dear old departed Dad was one of 'em. Like most that were there, he didn't talk about it much. What he wouldn't talk about says more to me about war and it's horrors than anything else.

My late father in law was on Normandy as well as two other beach landings later in Italy and Sicily. As expected he never talked much about it. Some to me but never my wife or her older brother.

Ran into a fellow (of all places a liquor store parking lot!) last year. He had a custom license plate that read P-38. I asked him if he had been a P-38 pilot and told him of my father being an instructor in the Army Air Corp and later his role in the Confederate Air Force with T-28s and T-6 Texans.

He mentioned that he might have even known my Dad via the then Confederate Air Force and yes, he was indeed a WWII vet who flew P-38s in combat. He also mentioned he was going to DC via the Honor Flight program. We had a great talk and it was an honor to do so. [thumbsup] [bow_down]

Not many left. If you have the opportunity to talk to a WWII vet then do so... if they are willing. It will be a gift that lasts you a lifetime. ;)
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.
