Hi guys...

I was just browsing Ducati.com and came across their Ever Red extended warranty service plan.
It basically adds an additional 3 years to the standard 24 months, totaling 5 years.
You can add it on as long as you're still w/in the standard warranty period.

I was just curious if anyone purchased it, and if you don't mind sharing, how much?
Is it a good idea if you can afford it?

I know some people are absolutely against extended warranty's, and forum's like this is key to the DIY people like myself,
but I definitely have no clue how to work on a Desmo motor...yet. [cheeky]

I guess I still have a little over a year to make up my mind.

I was offered a one year extension and will take that, about $250 here in Norway, Europe. If they offer, as you say, up to five years I'll probably get that too.

I recall my dealer offering one for roughly $1200, for 3 years on top of the base 2.

basically, IMHO, waste of money.  Everyone knows that extended warranties are basically a cash cow for these companies.  You're far better off just keeping your cash and putting it in your bike repair fund.

Maybe you're right - maybe you're not - although in my country consumer protection laws state that any product must be repaired or replaced if it breaks/malfunctions within it's expected lifetime. That means I'm protected against anything serious for at least 5 years. Hmmm - what to do ???
