That it is not a good idea to have the bike on its kickstand and take off the left rearset. Turns out that one of the screws is also holding the kickstand in place. Who knew?? I wasn't expecting the bike to fall on me, but then I also felt like superman, albeit a stupid one, when I lifted it off myself haha.

This is on a 2005 M620 btw.

I did the same thing on two Monsters and to make matters worse the Harley pinned me to the wall once.    [thumbsup]

Haha, welcome to the club.  I sacraficed my body instead of having my bike hit the ground when that happened to me.

You might want to take a close look at the spot where the stand bolts to the motor. That spot is a weak point and is not supposed to support the stress of the stand by itself, and can crack or break.

It's a bit comforting to know I'm not the only one who's done this.

It doesn't look like anything got damaged, fortunately enough. But even if it did, I probably wouldn't know because it would just camouflage with all the other oil leaks on my bike. And by oil leaks, I mean the patent-pending self-lubricating-chain technology that my bike developed all on its own.  ;D

I haven't done this... yet. But it's good to know as I was planning on changing the rearsets this winter. Lessons learned will hopefully keep Stella upright for me.

My sidestand bolt for a while (before loctite) kept coming loose.  One time I put the stand down and leaned the bike on it and the bolt dropped out and the stand just pivoted up and I set the bike down with one hand on the bars!   [bang]

Luckly, no damage.  that's about the time I cleaned the bolt threads really well and added loctite!
