An interesting way to get lots more backlinks to the DMF

I was just wandering through the wasteland of TOB listening to the wind whistling through the barren landscape when I decided to try something after learning that they're still censoring posts containing DMF's URL. I went to my profile and changed my homepage URL to here. Somewhat to my surprise, it accepted http://ducatimonsterforum.org without a hitch.

That means that all my old posts now link to here, eventually. The pulldown link doesn't work, but the "homepage" link on my profile DOES work.

If everyone here who has an account on TOB were to go change their homepage in their profile there, it would provide hundreds or even thousands of backlinks here. The main point would be moving DMF up in searches for things other than "Ducati monster forum" in order to make it easier for people to find us.

Or just move on and let this site build on it's own merits (which it will) and let the other one die a slow death. Just like I would never spend a .01 at jeff's parts venture, I don't go to the TOB.

I've got nothing against the DML and have no need to see it die any sort of death. I still read it every now and then. It's just that there isn't much of any use there. Part of what brought this about was that there are still clearly people on TOB who can't find the DMF and are looking for it, based on posts from as recent as yesterday.

For a resource to be useful, it must be findable. Anyone who knows to search for "ducati monster forum" will have no trouble, but how about all those who use other search terms?

The DML was a business...

they get sold all the time...

Jeff is still good people.

This place isn't a business.

Just sayin'.

I know what your saying, man. I stop by there once a week or so, see if anyone is lost. You see some people on there with sometimes serious bike problems - and absolutely no hope of finding anyone who can maybe help them out.

NAKID

If I had access to the 3500+ posts I made over there I would do something. But, they locked me out for no reason....
