Any Dodge/Chrysler techs?

I've got a CEL issue with my truck that is non-stop.  I've done the computer reset several times and it comes right back within a very short amount of time.

The code is P1686 which is related to the SKIM or immobilizer.  My truck isn't equipped with that though.  I have manual door locks & windows, no key fob and don't have the chipped key the nicer models have.  Looking online, it sound like it's a pile of checking wire after wire, likely pulling the dash etc. to locate the problem.  I also hear "it's expensive" in response to getting it fixed.

4.7L V8
Manual Trans (heavy duty version)
Sport package w/ tire & handling package
Tow package
CD & Cassette player (NOT the Infinity stereo)

Aftermarket stuff - two amps, sub, Alpine door speakers w/ matched tweeters also in door where factory location is.
