I'm not the only one that chatted with Gerry offline.  He was a great cyber mentor, maybe even a friend.

I don't have anything else to say except I'm raising a glass to him tonight.

File this where you see fit.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

On my way to choose a beverage.  To Rat [beer]

I think of the man I didn't know...who I had hoped to meet some day ~ quite often.

I miss him too.

I drank my bottle of Bushmills in his honor (<< spelled without a "u" in his honour).

And will drink another on the same day next year...............

I was warming up to Rat, he was a good writer. But it's not as big a loss for me personally as others that were closer and have gone too. Still, I hate Death.

 [beer] count me in.

Yes, Rat was indeed a "good writer" (among many other characteristics that you likely weren't lucky enough to discover). I can only imagine the clever, ingenious response he would have to your...comment.

I believe RAT himself had come to terms with his own mortality.  Not cool with it by any means, certainly not resigned to it either.  He was planning it kick it's hairy ass!!

But RAT's best laid plans went astray.  As oft plans do.....

And by make the beast with two backs, I'd really like to read RAT's tale of that story.

It'd be the most humourous and darkly witty account of human demise you would ever get to read.

I like to think he's writing it somewhere.

My assumption is that existence continues in some form and has to be at least as absurd as what we're dealing with now. I also assume there to be a twist to it that depresses most but gave him a great laugh upon realizing what it is. Just my dark take.

In all correctedness, I lifted Svedka rather than a beer.  I think that's ok.

Pretty certain it wouldn't matter to him what's in your glass:  water (although he'd have dosed out a catchy, snarky spot-on remark for that), natty light (remark worse than water), beer, tequila, vodka, ice wine, Bushmills, foo foo latte, Silver Oak, juiced Ikea swedish meatballs, whatever.... He'd be ok with it.   ;)
