Actually worked on Arc furnaces like this a couple years back, 4 Mw of serious melting capacity, the guys were moving a full pot one night after an 8 hour cook and managed to tip it over, that got pretty messy.

I've seen that before. It's pretty fascinating the worlds we pass by every day because we're too busy to notice.

I'd not necessarily be against aliens doing this to a human city for research so can't stand up for the rights of the ants as vehemently as you have either.
I hope they are proud to have you as their champion.
