Late on this one but I did not forget. Best friend's birthday is the 7th and both always come to mind. A nation's turning point sometimes comes from a wonderful event... most of the time it's due to a tragic event. Pearl Harbor was without a doubt the later. A bad day that helped forge a country (once again) and the greatest generation.

The one time i was in Hawaii, I missed the last tour of the day for the Arizona Memorial,....and flew out that night 

I'll get back there someday.

My late father in law was one of the first on shore at Normandy and also took part in the earlier landing in Sicily as part of the Italian campaign (I believe it was Sicily, I'll have to check with my brother in law to be 100% sure). And he always said he never wanted to return and visit due to the intense emotions.

I wasn't even born then but I too would fall apart to see Pearl, Normandy, etc. My Dad was spared, he got hurt as an instructor in the old Army Air Corp. No action for him but he lost a lot of friends.
