Wireless security cameras--- any input?

I'm looking to install some cameras on my property. Wireless is the only way I can go..... Looking on line there is a staggering amount of vendors.

Any one have any first hand experience?

Things I must have:

Wireless
Night vision
Video recording/reviewing
Email notification of motion detection
Min of 3 cameras

Price does not matter as long as it works.  I've seen them range in price from $99... Which I'm assuming is a piece of crap .... To  a $2k system  that didn't get good reviews.

I have it narrowed down to a couple systems. What bothers me is dropping a few grand on something that works mediocre.

I've gotten bids from monitored type companies but they want to replace items I already have with their equipment.  That's something I don't want to do.

Get a half dozen Caucasian Ovcharkas and just take a look at their droppings to see if there are any belt buckles or shoes etc.  You can maybe piece together what was trespassing.  

I am getting to the point of thought that any security system that is internet or wireless based in this day and age is anything but secure, and can be used against you.  I guess I don't have a constructive alternative.

I'm going wireless strictly for outdoor surveillance.  I'm not worried about "hacking" into the system. The cameras alone will be more of a deterrent and provide some kind of first layer defense.

Outdoor game cameras are also a possibility for me but I want to be able to be alerted via text/email if a camera is activated.

Not to be rude to any one. But I'm just looking for any first hand expirience with these items.  Wether it's good or bad.

Sorry - no first hand experience, but I have been looking into systems myself.  The UK has a surprisingly developed rural security industry - found this link which might be of interest.  It was highly recommended by some active security companies.  http://www.poachercatcher.co.uk/   Detection, cameras and instant cell alerts.

I have found keeping a few Komodo Dragons on the property has really curbed intruders.  Funny, but I have not had to feed them yet either.   

Costco has a good deal on this setup and I know of a couple foo businesses that use them.  The results are pretty decent.  As you said more of a deterrent...  Years ago I setup a sales team for a new Protection One vendor.  I learned something really interesting in the process.  The signs on the lawn work just as well as the alarms for deterrence.  A pro burglar will walk right around most home systems so no pint in actually having one!

I used to hand out Pro-1 signs to my friends.  If you can't find one you could always steal one off a neighbors lawn!  That happened more than home burglaries!

I live in a nice wooded area on a private road.  I noticed the other day foot prints in the snow around the perimeter of my house and garage. They stopped at every entry point. So I'm figuring they might be scoping it out.

I have a wireless setup in my office using Axis cameras.  It's a deterrent feature only, and it allows the front desk assistant to see who is at the door before buzzing people in. 

The Axis are very featureful, and waterproof.

I agree that it's mainly a deterrent to have security cameras but I'd add that the cameras solve a lot of cases after the fact. They also can help end a dispute or false allegation when the "victim" finds out you have everything on video.

I plan on installing some mainly for piece of mind when I'm away from home and as a way to keep an eye on my pets.
