Test drove it when it was released.   Loves It!

I put the 'motard up there with the 1098 in terms of lust factor.  It was a hoot to ride. The seating position was very comfortable.  The seat is high.  The motor is amazing and the bike feels tiny underneath you.  I couldn't wipe the grin off my face when I returned it!  The bike is just a hooligan machine.  The S4RS is more Jekel and Hyde (relatively civil package with a wicked motor).  The 'motard is all Hyde in a hooligan ([evil])way much like the 1098 is an all out racer.

I love my RS, but the 'tard would be in my top 3 wish list as a 2nd bike.

I guess the point of the post was to find someone who actually owns one and put some miles on one.

I want to hear first hand what the fuel mileage is like.

I'm tempted to try and get one, but I can't deal with stopping for fuel every 90 miles.

The other bike I'm considering is the KTM 950 supermoto

That's the reason I won't get one.  That gas tank is friggin' tiny.

I'd expect it to get the same gas mileage as a Multi...about 35-45 mpg.  As high as 45 mpg on the highway and when it's warm out.  As low as 35 mpg in town and when it's cold outside (i.e. bike never gets up to 180+ temp).

Yep...pretty much another usless post for ya!  [laugh]

I got one and if you don't like ranges on current monsters, you will hate fuel range on Hyper even more!!
riding conservatively with trooper following (from experience >:(), you might get 120-130 but normal riding will get me absolutely no more than 110 and in average 90-100 which is ashame because with DP comfort seat, it is a one comfy seat to be on.

Cheers,
Chris.

These are all good posts btw ;D

Im on a 675 right now, which has a 4.6 gallon tank.  I stop every 100 to 120 miles, but can go as far as 150 (and that's cooking at 80+ on the slab)

I just prefer to stop around the 100 mile mark because I want to, not because I'm about to run out of fuel in the mountains and get man-raped by rednecks in the hills [laugh]

I would not let mileage keep me away from a Hyper......that is one serious machine 8)  I am sure somebody will come up with an after market tank to extend mileage like all the MX, enduro, super motard bikes have for an option.
M-ROCin' it!!!

Well, Im scheduled to demo the Hyper and the KTM 950SM tomorrow.  Maybe I'll love the thing ;D

I'll say out of experience that you'll love it, but you'll also need to appreciate its impracticality to end up owning one...   ;)

I keep looking at one...then I tell myself no...but it's so pretty  [cheeky]

of course, I can't say much about my sanity...cause I've been eyeing the mulitstroodle alot lately too....

I need a commuter bike, and something with a little more gusto than the 620 (plus, the wifey wants to start riding, and she wants my 620).

Well, I rode it.

Not the bike for me.

I agree, it's beautiful to look at.  The 1100ds rips pretty good, but being used to the 675 tripple, I would like a little more rev.  I had to shift the thing always when things started to get interesting [laugh]  3rd gear about half way up the tach was magic land.

I can see how many a license will be in jeopardy.

A commuter bike this isn't.  It's for back road madness.  I can't see myself doing any touring on it.  I know you can get a top case and all that, but that isn't what this bike is good at.

Usable mirrors was a definite +

Seat was a definite - ^11tyb  It was terrible.  Im glad I only did 30 miles.

This wasn't the wheelie machine I thought it would be.  A quick handful in first would bring up the front pretty easy.  That was it though.  I think it's me.  Im 215 with gear on, and 6'4"  I have to work to get any bike to bring up the front.  Even the slightest lean forward and the front stays down (which isn't a bad thing)

Brakes were excellent!  Once they got some heat in them and bit, watch out.  I had the back wheel up coming up fast to a stop light.  Didn't mean to do it.  Yeeee Haww!

I tried to ride the KTM, but it had been in storage and had a case of a clogged pilot jet.  It wouldn't run off the choke.

I think that's a better bike for me.  Similar ability to unleash the inner hooligan, and more practical for touring, etc.

Im on the fence about getting it.  I could sell the 675, or trade it in (they offered what I owe)  They also took $2K off the 950SMR.  $11,800  Retail is $14k  :o

Don't know.  Time will tell I guess.
