A lot of people were commenting on how fighting with a helmet is awesome.

Its not. if you grab the chin or the back of the helmet, they can pretty much control you. Its also not easy to fight iwth all that gear on, but doable. But you better know what your doing cause youll be slow as hell.

Well, first off, allowing them to get close enough to grab your helmet without striking them is proof you don't know what you're doing.

That said, if you needed to take one to give one the helmet should pretty much ensure it's not to the face or doesn't matter, which is a huge potential advantage.

Not to mention if you were close enough for him to grab you SHOULD be close enough to deliver one HELL of the head butt.

I think the advantages of the helmet would far outweigh the disadvantages to most people.

First off, opening a comment on a friendly motorcycle forum with an unprovoked insult is tacky as hell. That said, I've always found that the people who are "expert fighters" in the internetz are usually anything but.

Back on topic, the little doughboy with Napoleon complex has probably had his ass whooped 70 times since that vid was shot, with a mouth like that. I'm not an expert fighter but I've been in a few street fights growing up poor as hell in a $hit neighborhood, lost my share of em', and my humble opinion is in line with He Man with one caveat: I'd take the helmet and the gear over an inexperienced dude throwing haymakers any day. Against someone that really knows how to grapple that helmet would be a huge disadvantage. Again, in my humble opinion.

Used my helmet once when I was jumped by a gang in Venice beach.  They surrounded me and told me to give them my helmet, I did.  Nearly killed the turd I hit first, broke the guys face I hit second and then I got a beating of a lifetime.  There were six of them and they managed to break nearly every rib in my body in less than 30 seconds before the cops showed up.  

Worst of all?  Some prick still managed to steal my Randy Mamola replica Arai while I was down.
