Hi guys

I have a 2010 M1100 that I have just fitted a SC Project 2-1 full system to. The exhaust itself is great, no issues there. Fits really well and a great sound (not for the faint hearted).

When I order it I order the air fuel modifier unit, as you do. The unit came with instructions (a whole three sentences, that didn't even apply to my bike). In short guys does anyone know where this unit plugs into?

Please help. I'm worried to ride her cos of the leaning out caused by the new pipe, K&N filter and air box mods. So I am desperate to get this unit fitted so I can ride my baby.

Any advice would be appreciate.

Thanks

Ok update...

So I have figured out that this unit is basically a Memjet unit in a different box. And it would seem it plugs into the air temp sensor on the M1100.

Now can anyone tell me where the air temp sensor is on the M1100 or better still have pics???

Thanks

It is mounted on one of the intake pipes from the air box to the throttle bodies on the inside, I don't remember which.  IMO, consider a different method of tuning, power commander, reflash, etc depending on what is available in your area.   That is really a pretty crude device.

Camo1100

Thanks howie. I tend to agree with you that it is rather rudimentary.

I don't have the budget for a PCV.... In Aus they work out at around $900 after install and tuning. I am considering either a Rexxer or Ecunleased flash. Any words of wisdom on either?

I think my concern is if they will do enough Ito a/f. I've got the 2-1 full exhaust, K&N, and also drilled out the top of the air box (like Termi air box supplied with filter), just for giggles.

I'm really undecided.... The idea of the flash is good as it can delete O2 sensors, exhaust valves etc. from what I hear these make a big difference to the low end running of the bike. The downside to the flash is it's very generic and can't really be mapped specifically to compensate for lower or higher a/f readings in parts of the rev range.

But than again it is 1/2 the price..... What to do... ???   [bang]  ???

The flash idea is excellent, which way you should go would be best answered by the folks in  http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=52.0  since local support is important.

Get a RexXer.  You will not regret it - and you can flash and reflash as and when you need to.

When I purchased my RexXer ‘User’ Package for a 2013 Monster 1100 EVO (fitted with a Siemens ECU), I received the ZU-RV01 Console, a USB Cable to connect to my PC (to manage installed Maps â€" 2 max stored in Console Memory at any time), another Cable (ZU-RV08) to connect to the Bike (using the DDA Plug under the seat â€" to flash the ECU) and a CD. The CD contains, amongst others, two Maps; 1) the stock 2013 Monster 1100 EVO ECU Map and 2) the Map that I specified when purchasing the RexXer, e.g.

Bike Year/Make/Model: 2013 Ducati Monster 1100 EVO
Air Filter: MWR Replacement Air Filter plus MWR Power-up Kit
Exhaust: Stock Headers plus LeoVince Factory R Evo II Slip-on - dB-Killer installed
Exhaust Valve: Enabled
ECU O2 (Lambda) Sensors: Disabled
ECU Closed Circuit: Disabled
Immobilizer: Enabled
RPM Limit: 9,500 RPM
Start-up Message: REXXER MONSTER (or NICO’S MONSTER) or whatever else not exceeding 15 characters.

You will also be able to do the following with your RexXer ‘User’;
• read and clear the ‘Check Engine’ Light,
• reset TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) â€" although this should actually not be an issue with the Siemens ECU, which supposedly does that each time the Bike is switched on,
• clear Adaptive Parameters,
• clear Error Codes and
• reset the Maintenance (Service Interval) ‘Spanner’.

You can, if you wish, run a Power Commander V, Bazzaz or TuneBoy on top of your flashed ECU but I doubt that you will need to. After all, you are not limited by the amount of RexXer Maps that you can obtain and flash to your Bike (only one at a time of course).

Things to keep in mind are;
1. You can only use a particular RexXer ‘User’ Console on a single Bike.
2. If you take your bike in for servicing, you need to re-flash it beforehand to reinstate the stock ECU Map. You can then flash it again, following servicing, to reinstate your favorite/last modified ECU Map. If you have a modified ECU Map loaded and that Map is inadvertently flashed by another Party, your RexXer ‘User’ Console will revert to a ‘locked’ state next time you connect it to your Bike; meaning that you will need to send it and the ECU in to your local RexXer Agent to get sorted out again.

This is sounding better and better….

Just one question? How do I know what ECU I have?

Also is that user console included in all buys from RexXer? I have been quoted AU$399 for the flash. So when I send it away will i get back the ECU and the console with cables etc or is that an extra buy?

Thanks for the help guys.

You should not be paying for a RexXer re-flash, or be sending your ECU away.  You should purchase the RexXer ‘User’ Console â€" you will then flash the ECU yourself using that, while it still installed in the Bike.  The ‘User ’ Console comes complete with the Cables and Maps you need â€" two maps; the stock one and the modified one that you specified.  In the case of the 1100 it might only be the modified Map since you can probably download the stock one straight from your Bike - first, before you flash the modified one to it. This is not possible with the 1100 EVO.

Read this; http://www.rexxer.eu/e_rexxer.cfm
Download this; http://www.rexxer.eu/downloads/rexxer_compatibility.pdf - it tells you which ECU you have on the 1100, which Console you need and which Bike Cable.

If you are in the US, you should probably buy it from these guys; http://www.rexxer.com/ direct.  $600.00.  You’ll have to fill this in when you do; http://www.rexxer.com/--ecu-form

I stay in Sarfefrica - I bought mine from RexXer in Germany.

Hmm, AU$.  It does not look like you are in the US  :-[.  You will probably be buying it from Germany as well.  You can try to here; http://www.rexxer.eu/e_produkte.cfm, but it is not very user-friendly.  If it freezes your brain up, try emailing Sebastian Schimmelschmidt at info@daniele-moto.de, including all information regarding your Bike and what you need.

Congratulations on buying the best exhaust for your Monster but that box of tricks is snake oil. You need a dyno run or several dyno runs to find the best AFR and power/fuel curve for your bike. This then needs to be flashed into the ECU or a PCV or Bazzaz. I would recommend a PCV in which each cylinder and gear can be mapped independently so you get 12 different maps, 24 if you use Autotune which really isn't that necessary. If you buy an Autotune restrict it to 5% once you have a dyno map in place. Hope this helps you. You should easily get 10 BHP+

That'd be Christian Schimmelschmidt.

Does the Rexxer flash include ignition timing mods or are you able to adjust the timing curve using the Rexxer system?

Camo1100

I have spoken to Gary at Torque Power Motorcycles and I think I will be getting the Rexxer "user" unit and than just adding/ updating maps as I need.

Sounda like a cost effective solution. A full PCV with tuning etc is around $900 vs the $499 for a Rexxer User. Its not a track bike so I am not trying to squeeze every last BHP out of her. Al i want is something to give an improvement, be reliable and reduce chances of damaging the engine by running too lean.

Ill keep you posted.

Thanks for all the help and advise.

Cheers

Just remember that your Rexxer map will be a best guesstimate for your setup, whereas PCV and Dyno mapping is tailor made.

Your Rexxer User unit comes with whatever "tuning" map you specify.  If you want additional maps later, they're at extra cost.

Make sure you have a back-up of your stock map before you begin any flashing.

I'm very happy with my Rexxer User unit... it comes in handy to reset the "service due" dash indicator too  [thumbsup]

The RexXer ‘User’ is merely a Console with which you flash (re-flash) an ECU.  It is being marketed for use on a wide range of Motorcars and increasingly so for Motorcycles.  You can re-flash as often as you want, as many Maps as you can acquire (or may be available for your Ride), but only on a single Car/Bike per Console.  It can only do what I listed in my original (earlier) Post â€" which is quite dandy, and a lot easier and cheaper than getting any of that (re-flashing in particular) done otherwise.  And you can run a Power Commander, Bazzaz or TuneBoy on top of your re-flashed ECU.

I, for one, take no pleasure seeing my Bike maxed out on a Rolling Road, behind a Fan, by another dude â€" no matter how good he is (or is perceived to be).  And I do not need to get every last horse-f@rt out of the Motor either.  The RexXer ‘User’ fits my needs like a glove, but it is obviously not a Best Practice for everybody.
