Frame Plugs

What are frame plugs for?  Are they just aesthetic?  I got some on the bike I recently bought and am wondering if they should be coming off.  Certainly the holes in the frame never offended me so, unless they have some actual function, they just add weight!

Although they add to the bike's net weight, they can be fine tuned to dampen harmonic resonance. This is a bonus for those shallow enough to install them for their bling factor.....such as myself.

IMHO, frame plugs are purely an aesthetic mod.

Haven't heard of a convincing technical reason to use them.

Remember if you add all the colors together they make black ....ergo....... black is fastest a combination off all colors

Now I'm confused!  What you are all trying to say is that my red and black bike is the fastest possible combination and is only being held back by the frame plugs that bobspapa wants me to take off so he can give them to his lady friend?
