Rizoma Bling - fluid tanks

Another job done - I had to do a major brake bleed anyway due to a cracked nipple (Ohh!):

So thought I would upgrade the fluid tanks, while I was at it.  The previous owner had Ducati Performance ones on there, which were nice and discreet, if a little industrial.  The big issue was, that although there was a small window, you couldn't see the level of the fluid nor the state that it was in.  Anyway, I had ordered some Rizoma Next tanks and here are the results (sorry for the bad pictures but it was raining so I couldn't be bothered to leave the gloom of the garage):



With hindsight I'm wondering if I should have gone for the smaller tank for the brake side as well.  I know it is more likely to loose fluid so could be a problem but with these tanks checking the level is so easy.  Too late now in any case.

I think you're better off with the big fella for the brakes.  Insurance companies and the TAC (or whatever its called in your part of Aus) don't like it when you reduce the capability of something (even if it actually makes no nevermind).

I think that, come registration time, the size if my fluid tanks will be the least of my worries. I'm still trying to find baffles for the exhaust and I only have the chopped tail, not the original. At least I have the original clutch cover to hide that spinning vortex of death!  Fraser's can't get the exhaust baffles for me so I tried another dealer. They didn't have them either but essentially said they would just ignore the sound test for me!

You're in NSW where you have to go thru that pain every year?

Would you need to refit the stock tail?  (Cant just attach a ridiculous but compliant ... extension?).

What cans do you need baffles for?

Do they do an exhaust emissions test?  Coz you're gonna need stock cans if they do.....

In NSW ... Yes. I haven't had to do a bike inspection before as I've always bought new. The exhausts are the Termi slip-on's. The guy I spoke to suggested that different service centres have different levels of strictness so I might have to ask around.  I have a few months to worry about it.

Do you mean smaller like this?  I went with the smaller ones on both sides and had no issues.  I like the look of them both being the same size a lot.

Looks good.  I probably should have gone for the same mounting option as you.  I had to bend the little arm on the brake side to get the tank to stop rubbing the windscreen.  I may end up moving them to the old mirror holes, but would have to find a reveres threaded screw for the brake side.

They will mount much cleaner with the Rizoma adapters.  The stock mounts bounced around a lot with the plastic reservoirs and had zero adjustment.

Good looking ride.  I bet if you ask around someone here has some Termi baffles they are not using ( :   If you get really stuck stock cans come up on EBAY and other sites for not much cash at all.

I did use Rizoma mounts, just low profile flat ones. I thought they would look better but may have made a mistake. I'll see how they go when I next go for a ride (it's miserable here at the moment and I have been off work, so not commuting). I can always swap them later.
I'll keep an eye out on eBay, both for the baffles and the OEM exhaust. The sign at my local dealership says that even with baffles the Termi's are not for road use!  Anybody in NSW had any issues with getting a Safety Check with the Termi's (or tail chop, for that matter)?

It may be easier and smarter to get a stock exhaust before going to the inspectors.  Especially if you think there are other items that might not meet the criteria.  Although I doubt if a single inspection station anywhere is familiar enough to know if the tail was chopped.
