Not sure if anyone else knows who Chad Reed is... This guy guy has won multiple Supercross and Motocross championships over the years. I stumbled across this web site moto parts trader, And i saw that he was selling his  Streetfighter "S". This thing is so cherry it only has 850 miles on it. Any body know if this is a good deal for such low miles? My wife is trying to tell me to get a cheaper bike  [bang] so i need some back up on this one. http://motopartstrader.com/show-ad/209/chad-reeds-2010-ducati-streetfighter-s/usa/bikes-for-sale/

Thanks, DC

Howie

Unless you think previously owned by Chad Reed adds about 8K to the value of the bike I would pass on it.

On top of the silly price tag for a common (although, maybe not where you're located) bike you can add, at a minimum, another $1000 for the service that's going to have to completed on the bike. That low milage is actually not good on a 4 year old bike, especially since the 600 mile service they're gloating about only consists of an oil change, checking torque specs, and maybe other fluid changes.

It's still just a Streetfighter that's been sitting for 4 years, no matter who the prior owner is.

Why do I get the impression that our OP on post #1 is just trying to sell his or his friends bike?

Why are you always so suspicious? Why would anyone need help selling this perfect specimen of a bike? And look at that price! It must be very special. It even has an S in quotes!

Thanks guys! Has anyone ridden both models to tell me what the difference is between riding an S and a non S? The S sounds really good on paper.

Only major difference is the suspension, that I'm aware of. Same engine, same geometry, etc.

But, like BP says, Sex does start with a "S".

Given the "S"=Sex thing, it's still not a justification for the super inflated price tag. Just for reference, here are two in my neck of the country...

This one is very similar to the one you posted, in regards to mods. The only major difference is color. Although, some on this forum arguably think red is the fastest color.  [roll]

This one is from a slightly more expensive dealer than the previous one, in regards to used bikes. This one has also has around $4K in wheels alone and still comes in at $4.5K cheaper than the one you posted.

Again, these are just to show you that there may be other options out there. Hell you could have the one from the second link shipped to your door for less than the Chad Reed bike. But if owning a former Chad Reed bike is what you want and the money is not an issue for you then go for it.  [thumbsup]

The S has DTC, forged rims, ohlins, and DDA standard vs the non S.  Some CF bits too but that's minor.

And that SFS is way overpriced.

+1, wayyyy overpriced. When I was seriously shopping Streetfighters it was not uncommon to find S models in the $12-$14 k range, Termis and all.

The bike may not be as overpriced as I thought, Chad Reed is Australian, different dollars and taxes.
