I don't get them much but when I have them, they only last about 10 seconds

That's a seriously long hiccup. Mine are usually less than a second.

Best way to get rid of them?  Take a really deep breath and try to hold it as long as you can.  This may take a couple of tries but it is a sure fire way to stop them.

Worse than hiccups?  Damn Black Widow bite on my elbow......
