I just bought these devices more out of curiosity than necessity.  I figure a more accurate speedometer can't hurt as well as knowing what gear I am in too.

In terms of the installation, the only part I am struggling with is finding the RMP timing sensor.  The gear indicator device requires tapping a wire at this location and at a wire behind the fuse box.

I looked through the parts diagram and I can't find where the RPM timing sensor is located on my M695.  Can someone help point out to me where this is?

Thanks.

Ignition trigger is bolted to the upper forward area of the left engine sidecover.

I got one of their products on my Gixxer 750. Very handy. Mine is the timing retard eliminator and gear position version rather than speedo healer. Had no problems with it and it takes a good shaking up quite well.

Hmmm... I am kinda stumped right now attempting the installation of the Gear Indicator.

In the Gear Indicator instructions it says to connect the GIpro RED WIRE to a SWITCHED +12V POWER LEAD, e.g. behind the fusebox to the RED/BLACK WIRE.

When I go to the back of my M695 fuse box, I don't see a RED/BLACK wire at all.

I see a heavier gauge red wire.  or a thinner gauge red/blue wire.  along with many other color wires.

Can anyone recommend which wire the instructions might be telling me to connect the GI wire too?

If you have the original paper Owners Manual, there's a wiring diagram in the back.

Or you can download the Owners Manual from here:
http://www.ducati.com/services/maintenance/index.do

And then you'll have an electronic copy that you can look at on your lappy or tablet or print out a hardcopy or whateva.

Cool.  Thanks for that link for the electronic version of the user manual.

I have orignal hardcopy the original owner gave me when I bought the M695 so I made an attempt installing with the manual, but it is nice to have an electronic version.

The wiring diagram shows a Red/Black wire but it is not that way on my M695.  On my bike there are two red wires coming in from one side.  A thicker gauge red and a thinner gauge red.

In the diagram it shows the Red/Black wire opposite from the Brown Wire so I decided to tap the thinner gauge Red wire opposite the brown wire on my bike.....

Ooops..... that Red wire was hot so as soon as I tapped it, the gear indicator lit up.  My key wan't in the ignition so I assume this wire is hot and not switched.

I've tried a google for help online but came up short.  I will go to my local dealer tomorrow and hopefully then can tell me which wire I can tap.
