Yep. Another new guy.
I have been away from riding for several years…but I have the itch again….thus my registering for DF…
I have always liked Ducatis, Monsters in particular.
I'm no expert street rider by any means…but up until '02 I ran A class endure and Hare scrambles…  Street riding was just a casual thing when I was able to get hold of the shop Cagiva 900 Gran Canyon (Ducati engine)…  Back then, I worked for Cagiva USA/Fast by Ferracci…  As I type this I realize I have been out since '02... [thumbsdown]  I have been to Italy, and actually had dinner with Castigliioni at his house…  Would I buy an MV? Yes, but I have a thing for Monsters...

I live in Hollywood FL, near Ft. Lauderdale…  So I'd certainly like to meet others in the area..
I don't plan to take riding too seriously…  I work what seems like 100 hrs/wk and travel a lot…  So I need to get a nice, reliable, easy bike…

So I found a few bikes that interest me-  I'll do just like every other newbie and go over to the general forum and start a thread about what bike everyone thinks I should buy..

Thanks,
TIM

You worked at Cagiva in Fairfield? Did you know Fred Hoess who was there until '96?

Try one of the newer 2-valve bikes before they disappear if you want to keep it simpler. From '09 the bikes have more front end weight bias and feel more planted, at least to me.

Good luck with your hunt!

Sure did… I ran more than a few races with Fred (AA pro class rider).

Cagiva was in Willow Grove PA. Fast by Ferracci is in Abington, about 2-3 miles away.  There were very good prople in both companies.

Fred worked at Cagiva/Ducati in the '90's when they were in Fairfield, NJ near the Porsche, Audi, Land Rover dealership where I used to work. Signed him up for the '96 Camel Trophy, Team USA in Kalamantan where he finished 2nd overall.

Fred was with Husky until BMW ditched them and last I heard was in dealer development at BMW. Fred DOES have 16 ISDT/ISDE golds you know?  8) I owe him a phone call. He dropped by here last year...

Eraldo set up my early 851 before he was officially a dealer but was running the factory SBK effort. He always dropped by to pay me a visit while he was visiting Fairfield.
