are awesome!  [bacon] [thumbsup].  I'm jealous of everyone that lives around there.

Back in May a few buds and I went down to the Dragon and the surrounding area for a few days... The monster 900ie performed perfectly!  The kriega US10 and R25 worked great for low-profile day-pack luggage options...

I finally put together a highlight video - we had 3 go-pros (2 blacks, 1 silver) so were able to take some decent footage.

That looks great. I'm planning on going through there in August. I should definitely get a little camera before then.

Glad you enjoyed them!  I'm nestled right in the best of 'em.  If you look at a map and find Asheville, NC, I'm about 30 minutes west of there.  Right where I-40 gets all crooked and stuff before crossing into TN.

go by there all the time on my way back from Ark where the in-laws live

yesterday I rode 421 to the state line turned on TN 67 which turns into NC 88 and then across Elk Knob National Park down to NC 194, you can keep going out 88 towards Virginia if u want. Another good one is 221 from Linville to Marion

the_Journeyman

I do a lot of state line criss-crossing up that way using NC197, 226, 261 and their associated TN counterparts.

It's a remarkable area. Went with a group for a week and we enjoyed several of Journeyman's recommended routes around Franklin NC.
We didn't get a lot of quality time on the BRP, but we had a taste.
It'd great to travel on traffic-free but the local roads were more entertaining day in - day-out.

Doable..., but you have to time it right!  8)

Pretty much.  I've done over a 100 miles in a day with little traffic and enforcement.  Granted I have the advantage of jumping on it on any given day here.  Color season = parking lot.  Spring when everything is blooming is also a busy time.  Granted that time of year can be chilly up that high on a motorcycle.

weekday mornings are the best but I'm usually working, so much traffic on this section of the BRP that they knocked the speed limit down to 35  :P
