Hey Y'all, I have had my bike since new, but thanks to Uncle Sam I haven't been around to work on her much till now. I have bad lower back surgery and while she is great for short rides/ commuting, anything over an hour starts to make me sore.  I am looking to make her more comfortable for longer rides/ short touring and wanted suggestions on parts, since she is basically stock except for sliders and bar ends. No I am not expecting a ride across the country bike, that is what the Road King Classic is for, I am just looking for suggestions form people that have found good gear to makes it more comfortable.  Thanks a lot

I have risers and an ATV bar on my M750.  I sit mostly upright and even with the stock seat, long day rides are not a problem, even with me have some old shoulder injuries.

M796 riser which is ~ 20mm higher(?). Rizoma MA008A bar. Sargent saddle. BIG improvement.

Thanks for the info. Who are you guys getting the risers from? Thanks

A larger, bolt on/off touring windscreen has made the most difference to me. I love the naked style but during one trip I was beat up by gusty wind, rain and cold to the nearby California coast that made my weekend trip miserable.

I bought a national cycle v stream screen, very ugly but effective.

That Rizoma bar I mentioned is more than half the equation because it's taller and has 2" more sweep, which is nice for the wrists, but I'd suggest you ask a few dealers for 796 take-offs or check eBay. The later 1100 EVO's have the 796 riser, maybe starting in 2013?

On second though, check your cable and wiring lengths before checking for the riser. The bar is no issue except that you need to drill little holes for the control locating pegs. You might still be fine for +20mm. Genmar also make a 38mm riser insert if you don't want to mess with anything else. I like my bar though!  8) http://gallery.leica-users.org/d/282951-1/Rt_-Above.jpg

The 796 has the same chassis as M1100/1100 EVO BTW.

After a longer ride today, I'm reminded I like my Tech Spec pads a lot too when I have to ride slow in town for a bit. I just dig my knees into them and it takes a lot of weight off my arms and wrists. (I'm 5' 8" if that matters...)

I ran a MA0005 on my 2013 Evo.  Yes it seems that it has the 796 risers.  The taller bar may give you some issues trying to get the cables to stretch mine seemed pretty tight.
Two things I don't do.  Keyboard bullies and hypocrites.
