Seeking opinion about selling my bike...

Unfortunately, I need to sell my Duc to help mitigate repairs to my car.     Luckily, I have a second bike (which has also caused me to neglect my Duc over the past 4 years).

There is one "significant" issue in selling... there is a horrible rattle coming from the udder. I've taken the thing off, and there's nothing loose in there (rock, metal bit or the like), just rattle horribly at random RPMs (and a tap of a rubber mallet).

As a buyer, would you believe the "it's in the catalytic converter" explanation from a seller? My alternatives are finding a used udder (which could have the same issue), or spend a few bucks on a mid-pipe and make the sound go away AND make the bike look and sound better... I was just hoping to not invest in the bike since I'm looking to sell it.

In my brain, I'd price the bike a little higher with a new mid-pipe... vs pricing the bike a little low to account for the scary noise.

What say you?

It is the udder/catalytic converter.

If it were my bike, I'd just try to find a good used replacement unit for cheap.

You may not get all the money back from the mid-pipe mod or a replacement cat...

but it will sell a lot easier.

Just tell any potential buyers to ignore it...only weirdos leave the cat/udder on anyway, and they know they'll be ordering a new exhaust soon!   Joking...kind of.

Looks like you're in Tacoma? You could also get onto desmonorthwest and see if anyone has one laying around that they'll sell ya cheap. If I had one I would give it to you for free.
