So.
I took off the Slingshot lowered pegs and put the stock ones back on last week.
My old knees do ache a bit on long rides but not bad and I stretch them every chance I get.
I do think that the overall riding position is more comfortable and I feel the bike handles better.
It is a small change but it seems to have made a significant difference in Flickability.

The longer you ride with the higher pegs the more natural they will feel, and your knees will probably become accustom to them. I am 66 and ride a bike with what some would consider fairly radical ergos. I often feel like making them even more so! I rode from Portland to Monterey on the scenic route and it was no sweat!

I guess the Ducati engineers knew what the were doing.
The balance between the feet, butt and hands is better with the stock peg height.

Glad to see there are others not acting their age.  ;D
