2009-2013 ducati monster 1100 ecu flash outcome?

Has anyone with a 2009 ducati monster (and up) had the ecu JUST flashed?
No power commander, No autotune, No 02 optimizers.
Stock Bike.. removed ECU.. send to it to someone like redline, or ecs or whoever..
received stock unit and reinstall it and ride?
If you fit the above description. What was the end result like?  Was there a noticeable improvement? Did you feel it was worth the 300 bucks?
I mainly use my monster for getting to work in the city and back. my rides are almost ALL
traffic.  So im really looking to just smooth out that bottom end (closed loop?), I don't care at all
if I don't increase horsepower.  Did the ecu reflash "transform" your bike.. or was it just a "little better"?

Before I get flamed.. I have probably read every thread on this board regarding this topic. However, it appears most people go on to making additional changes (auto tune, pcv, remove flapper.. on and on and on).

Thanks for any information in advance. Seriously considering getting it done. But I have no interest in all the additional stuff. Let me know, thanks for your time.

Do you have 14t front sprocket? If not do that first.

polivo

yes. 14t front sprocket and throttle tamer . Made it a lot nicer.. but those 2 things, don't fix fueling problems.. they just make them more manageable in my opinion.

Raux

The flash doesnt get rid of o2 in the low range.

Raux

For the 696 i feel the number 1 thing that smoothed it out was the pcv o2 sensor parts. They lower the afr to about 13.6 IIRC.

polivo

raux, can you elaborate . Not sure what you mean by 02 part. Sorry if im not completely up to speed on this.

Raux

The pcv has two parts. The main fueling computer and a sensor that connects to the 2 o2 sensors that change their output. The fueling computer only has a map for above the closed loop area. The o2 sensor adaptors chnage the closed loop area to be a bit richer smoothing out the closed loop area.

polivo

would it be better to get the o2 optimerz, or ecu reflash in your opinion? I thought the ecu reflash addressed the low end?

It does if you flash the 02 sensors out of the ECU.

polivo

excellent. Thats what i was extracting from all those threads. that essentially, the correct ecu reflash should address the low end stumble.. by removing the o2 section and adjusting the map accordingly in that below 4k range?  So  i guess, when i get mine done.. i need to ask, "what map" are you installing?

What EEL said.

I don't qualify to respond here as I'm guilty of having gone the reflash>PCV>autotune wholehog.

But.... happy as I am with my long established outcome.... if I was starting again from scratch I'd have the ECU reflashed with an appropriate map for my 'hardware', inc. raising the rpm limit to 9500 (anything more is just noise without any other benefit) and eliminate the closed loop (O2).  And leave it at that.

Assuming your chosen reflash mapping hits your particular nail on it's particular head, 90% of all the improvement is right there IMO.

That's what I was hoping to hear, GREAT.  So, now the million dollar question.  When I sned my unit off for a reflash.. how will I know if they flashed the o2 out, and loaded an appropropriate map? or if they simply flashed me wirth dp ecu.. which still uses the 02 sensors?  Or can anyone recommend where I can get it flashed properly?  I don't want the pcv and autotune if I can avoid it. I just would like to smooth out that bottom end.

polivo... tell your chosen reflash centre what you want.

Be specific.

Define your hardware.... exhaust set-up, any intake mods... that you want closed loop to be gone (eliminating your stock 02 inputs)....

Likely, whomever you select (if they're any good) will have an 'off the peg' reflash which is a.... close enough match for your requirements....

But the deal is:  They're not gonna magic it for you.  For best results YOU have to stipulate exactly what you WANT from this customised ECU re-write  [thumbsup]

It's tailor made and you're holding the tape measure.
