I'm going to do a bit of work on the S4RS' water pump.  Does anyone know if I can use car coolant in the monster or if I need to use moto-specific coolant?  Thanks!

When in doubt - just use some distilled water.

Being an air cooled rider, I don't know the answer for you - but I'd check the owners manual.  I'd hope it lets you know.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

What does your owners manual and/or service manual say?

Howie

You need to use a phosphate and silica free ethylene glycol coolant.

From the Owners Manual:

...add a mixture consisting
of water and antifreeze SHELL Advance Coolant or
Glycoshell (35-40% of the volume) up to MAX mark.

This type of mixture gives the best operating conditions
(thecoolant starts to freeze at â€"20°C/-4°F).

Cooling circuit capacity: 2,7dm3 (litres). 1

Cooling system Antifreeze SHELL Advance Coolant or 35-40% + water

I have been using NISSAN or Toyota Coolant , silicant free in the S4  50-50 with distilled water., when stripped the coolant system was perfect. in Thailand the S4 runs very hot as its never less than 90f here.

Has anyone ever found Shell Advance Coolant in the USA?  I tried and failed.  I use Motul Factory Line MOTO-COOL.
It's everything free.  No phosphates, silicates, or nitrates.

Apparently, dlearl476 is a Motul dealer.

[laugh] He is right, from my quick search on the net, the Sell Advance products don't seem to be sold in the states.  I would like to ask what everyone thinks of using Distilled Water + Red Line Water Wetter?

I used Water Wetter in my R1 for years and never had any problems.  Any one use this on their Ducks?

That's fine as log as it doesn't get cold where you live or you never ride anywhere that gets cold

Sounds like he's just a regular consumer like most of us here.

No, actually he is a dealer according to posts he made on another forum.  See the Motul oil thread.  Of course, someone could be spoofing his id (snort).

I don't care if he is a dealer, as long as he identifies himself as such so that people know what the score is behind his posts.

+1  Unless it is under the marketplace, conflict of interest should be disclosed otherwise it undermines people's confidence with everybody's posts.
