Like this:

Put your eggs in a pot and cover with COLD water.

Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda and stir to dissolve.

Bring to a boil on high heat.

As soon as it boils, turn off the heat and cover with a lid.

Let sit covered for exactly 10 minutes.

Peel

Shove in face hole
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

You forgot one, yet vital step. Eggs should be left out overnight to bring them to room temperature before you cook them. That goes for all variations.

Hard for me to discern room temp, with all the ice water in my veins.  :-*

Why?  Both US and Canadian health guidelines say no more than two hours at room temp to avoid nasty bacteria. I gather it's not an issue in Europe, though...

Eggs are fine for a few days. If you cook them cold, like steaks, they don't come out as good.
