Hey gang. I'm looking for some assistance and thought I would check here since it's moto related.

My team, (Atomic Racing) is looking for a pit crew to help out during next month's race. We will be running two bikes for sure  in the Team Challenge/Solo Challenge endurance race. This is a mini endurance race (80 minutes), that will require one pit stop for each bike. We are in need of 2 or 3 people for a couple hours on Sat. August 23rd. It's not really work, it's a heck of a lotta fun actually.

We fielded two bikes in June in this race and could have used some more help. A combination of being short handed, and an error cost us a win on one of the bikes. Everyone helping was awesome, and we recovered the best that we could. We really don't want to repeat that and would like to get help lined up ahead of time. I will be running the team challenge race with Mark Miller on my bike. We have a real good shot at getting a win in our class and that's what I'm aiming for. I'm in a points chase this season and currently I'm #8 overall. I also have a real good shot at taking a couple class championships so every race counts for me. That's why I'm asking here for any help that we can get :) Geoff will be racing his R6, so that leaves Kim and Mo to do two pitstops. We could use a couple more people.

If anyone is interested in helping out, I'll give you all the details. It's really a lot of fun. This is the closest you can get to racing without actually being on the bike. If you want an experience that you won't forget...give me a shout!  [beer]

I've got to check the schedule Monday, if I'm off that weekend, I'll help out.

I guess the only thing left is to discuss compensation.   [laugh]

Sure, it's all I've been paid for the last 10 years that I've been working on bikes at the track.

Got a link to the rules for endurance pit crews?

I helped out last year, and there was some severe confusion in regards to number of people over the wall and other rules.  Even the marshals working the pits were confused as to some of the rules.

I know you've got plenty of experience and figured you know what's up.

Rules are pretty simple. For that race, no crew members can wear shorts, only one team member allowed past wall until the pit stop but during the pit stop, I don't think there's a limit.

here is a link to the 2008 rulebook there is a section on Pit Regulations.

THere is a limit to how many can help with a bike I think it is 4 plus the rider (but look at the book).

what we need is one to hold the bike, one to hold the extinguisher, and one to poor the gas, an extra to wipe spillage is good to have also.

Alright I have an update. It looks like we are covered. Wade, no need to make the trip if it was just to help us. You are certainly welcome to come hang out but I hate to see you drive just to help us for two hours.
Ulf, same thing. No need to come a day early if you don't want to. But again, you are more than welcome to hang out/help if you like. I can take some time to show you around the track too.

I have help in the form of racers who are not running this race. So, they will be there anyway and have volunteered.
Thanks guys! Show up if you want but don't go out of your way [thumbsup]

Admit it, you're just trying to get out of feeding me booze!  [drink]

Probably a good thing you found somebody else.  I start a new job next Monday doing fiber splicing.  The current job will have us out of town for 10 days and home 4... I think the 10 days out will fall on that weekend.  If not, I'll come down anyway.
