Hello everyone!

I wanted to let my fellow DMF'ers know that I have the privilege of participating in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's "Ride to Cure Diabetes” this year and - as an avid cyclist (with or without motor) - have set a personal goal to raise $5,000.  I have been a Type 1 diabetic since 1983 and I am committed to raise awareness about this disease as well as promote healthy living.

Thanks to the generous support of some really cool people over the past 7 weeks, I have collected over $2,100 for diabetes research and am well on the way towards my personal goal of $5,000.  I have been training this summer (which would be why you haven't seen me a lot) and on August 30th, will be in Whitefish, MT cycling 100 miles to benefit diabetes research.

I appreciate any and all support - if you would like to contribute, simply go to www.ride.jdrf.org/donate and search for me, Keith Rust, under “Support a Rider.”  The Web site accepts all major credit cards and your gift would be tax-deductible.

Thanks again and I hope to see you all at Lisa's BBQ!

Consider it done. Do similar things for breast cancer (sister in law is a PR person for Komen, plus my sis and friends have had it) and CF (Colin's best friend has it bad, they did the walk with his friend's family earlier this summer). You've got my $$ support. [thumbsup]

ps Done!!

Just wanted to bump the post and thank everyone who has contributed!!  The bike is en route to Montana already and donations are accepted for at least another 30 days.  Svoloch will wash your bike in a bikini in return for any additional contributions!

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

 8) Keith - so the ride is on the 30th, you gonna go early to acclimate to the altitude & vacation too ?  Pat Donovan who used to kick for the Cowboys is married to a dear friend & they live up there in Wfish - helped develop the golf course !  Be funny if you ran into them - it's a pretty small town !
