G/day everyone ... I picked this tired old M750 up cheap to use as a donor bike for a Cafe Racer project, that was three odd years ago, tempus fugit ...  Id like to share its slow progress in a build thread with you guys.

Casings were pretty rough, so I decided to clean them up a little

Did the clutch cover and timing belt covers too, took a few days but Im happy with the result.

I dont like the flat valve covers much, after a search I came across some SD covers.

They needed a little work to take the oil cooler.

Ive now moved the oil cooler mount onto the horizontal exhaust valve cover, now oil lines can go straight to the oil cooler instead of having to weave up past the timing belt cover, much neater.

Fitted new colisbro valve guides and valves, gave the ports/tracts a clean up and port matched them.

Dropped in a pair of FBF 11/1 ... These are a nice looking piston

Fitted the casings and heads this week, now I feel as if Im getting somewhere, just threw the inlet manifolds and carbs on for a quick photo shoot ... Im on the hunt for some FCR 39 to replace those Mikuni.

Now Ive built the motor I can move onto the powder coating, then build progress should be fast, I have a spare room (the wifes office lol) full of boxed new parts waiting for that day.

[thumbsup]
Polish away and ignore the naysayers. [clap]

Ive removed all that old OEM silver paint from all the casings and heads, imo looks better for it too ... I sure some wont like the polished casings, but it suits the time theme I want to capture, building it my way :)

Any updates?

Not much new to report koko, as you can see, the bike is down to the bare bones, I will try and get the frame etc in for powder coating next week ... In my odd spare moment I have been able to indulge in my polishing fixation though, this weekend the triple trees  :)

The Castings are as rough as a 45 WLA Harley, well nearly  ;)

Tidied up the top yoke, removed some lugs etc

To me it looks better with those redundant lugs gone ... Ive ditched the OEM stem bolt and picked up a revolver bolt, also as Im going to fit some clubmans, I needed to space the risers by 10mm to make room for the fork top adjusters (Ive upgraded to some NOS M900 fully adjustables) ... Triple trees finished, so I can now cross them off the list  :)
