forks slider protection?

620 w/ 3-way forks off a S4.

apparently my fork sliders are getting pitted pretty bad.  Nick game me some maint to keep them clean, but any suggestion for keeping them cleaner?  boots? shields of some kind?

I'm running some neoprene boots I bought years ago... no leakage problems since i started, and any pitting is down at the very base where I shouldn't be traveling on a regular basis...
